During my career I have shown a propensity for safety processes and a safe operation. During almost 5 years in a warehouse environment at Smurfit Stone my team never recorded a lost time incident or accident. I can also say proudly, working safely is a condition of employment. Recently my fleet at Sugar Foods has been awarded the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) Private Safety Fleet of the Year award for 2012 & 2013. Also during that time I have consistently demonstrated case after case of double digit cost savings by innovative thinking, coupling technology and applying experience to gain results.
With diversified experience in Transportation Management, Procurement, Logistics, Private Fleet Management, and customer service, my responsibilities have included multi-facility distribution operations across a national distribution network, location planning, contract negotiations, cost take outs, reverse logistics, dispatch operations, facility management, ISO 9001, SAP R3 & R4 software, Oracle OTM, Red Prairie TMS, 3PL utilization and contracts, vendor procurement, DOT/CSA compliance, hazardous material handling, spill containment, capacity planning, carrier rate negotiations, vehicle lease contracts, development of KPI's, and tracking of carrier performance. Also dealing with the various Class 1 and Short-line railroads to provide quality customer service, and obtained savings through railcar leasing programs. Intermodal operations have also been a part of managing the distribution, warehouse, and logistics operations.
With over 30 years in the Transportation & Logistics industry I have had the opportunity to manage large distribution, logistics, and fleet operations and work with hundreds of carriers, while handling as many as 31 plants, with annual spend exceeding $150 million. I have been responsible for supervising as many as 42 hourly union associates, and 112 salaried truck drivers at another employer. I have also managed 600,000 square feet of warehouse space located in 6 separate warehouse locations within 2 states operating 24/7. During 1999 to late 2009 as the Corporate Logistics Manager with Smurfit Stone I managed recycle and mill operations. Carrier compliance was one of the main focus points in my daily job routine as well as developing lasting relationships with those carriers, 3PL’s, Private and Dedicated Fleets. Also have implemented Oracle OTM and i2 TMS systems in multiple locations.
I am an aggressive negotiator on contracts and work to make sure the contracts are beneficial and add value. With many years in the distribution/logistics industry, I’ve gained direct experience in inventory control, cycle counting, fork-truck operation, warehouse layout, shipping and receiving of TL, LTL, and small package goods.
Thank you for your time in advance. I would also ask you review my recommendations on my personal LINKEDIN account as written by some of the people I have worked with in past years. I feel after your review you will see that my background and experience are just what you are looking for, and would appreciate a time to be scheduled for a more personal interview where we can further discuss my experiences and how I fit into your company.
All the best,
