HOBBIES & INTERESTS
Firstly, I enjoy many sports, including hurling, football, rugby and
skiing. I have been involved in coaching for many years across hurling and
camogie (both juvenile and adult). I have been involved in elite level
coaching for hurling and camogie at University level, Senior club and
County levels, and managing Lavey (Derry-based club) to their first 2
Senior County camogie titles. As a result of my coaching achievements, I
was asked in 1992 to lecture part-time on the University of Ulster BA
(Hons) Sports & Leisure degree programme.
I am currently involved in coaching hurling at U11/U16 and minor level with
Ratoath GAA, winning 4 titles in the last 4 years. My interest now in
hurling is in the development of coaching skills for coaches, and
developing individual skills through game play for children. I am also
involved in a French student programme to learn English through hurling.
I am an avid reader of science fiction / fantasy fiction. I am a keen
traveller having visited most of Western Europe, Canada, South Africa and
the USA.
