SUMMARY
Over 28 years in the Manufacturing Industry including 18 years
manufacturing of light and heavy rail vehicles as well as refurbishment of
rail cars has provided me with experience and understanding of all aspects
of the rail car industry as well as strong manufacturing skills. Solutions
minded with good management skills and the drive to improve quality, reduce
cost and improve customer satisfaction while maintaining the safety of all
employees. Goal orientated and KPI driven with the understanding of what
support is needed in this industry has helped me with many challenging and
varied projects over many years.
Professional Experience
APG-Neuros Plant Manager (Plattsburgh New York) 2009- Present.
Starting position was manufacturing engineer with primary role of setting
up the USA operations, this included installation of sound reduction test
cells to perform turbo blower testing (PTC-10) production equipment
including cranes and tolling, also hiring of staff along with setting up of
production line. Within 6 Month was given the position of plant manager and
continued to set up facility with a total investment of approximately $2M.
APG-Neuros had sales over $34M in 2012.
During the setting up of operations here I was responsible for working with
local, interstate and overseas design engineers as well as construction
companies to ensure on time startup of production.
Bombardier Transportation / Adtranz Transportation / ABB Transportation -
1991 to 2009
Manager, Technical Services- 2002 to 2009 (Plattsburgh New York)
Manager of the Technical Services Department as well as Production Manager
for the final assembly of 23 light rail vehicles for Minneapolis in a joint
venture with other Bombardier sites (Mexico), On this contract I was
responsible for labor forecasting, manufacturing procedures and FAI. I also
worked closely with planning and supply management regarding material flow.
The build of 18 Bi-level for Seattle with scope split between two
Bombardier sites Thunder Bay and Plattsburgh
Other roles while in Plattsburgh included bids, plant and labor loading,
process improvement, maintenance and quality improvement.
I worked two years in Mexico developing the transfer of technology between
Bombardier Mexico and Hartasuma Malaysia. This role included the setting up
of communication between sites, monitoring of production and department KPI
and the development and control of engineering changes, modification
notices, quality issues and material availability along with monitoring the
production status.
I worked six months in Malaysia supporting the start up of Hartasuma as a
partner for the final assembly of 140 ART vehicles for the Malaysian Rapid
Transit Authority.
As one of the key personnel, I was responsible for working on the corporate
initiative for the transferring of technology between Bombardier and
partner sites; this group was based in Berlin, Germany and the groups main
function was to develop a standard process and approach to multiple site
assembly.
Senior Manufacturing Engineer - 1998 to 2002 (Pittsburg, CA)
Support the refurbishment of heavy rail cars and shipment schedule for the
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) contract. Reduce car build hours improving
quality and develop process maps for manufacturing personnel, liaison with
shop floor, management and customer representatives. Responsible for
achieving and maintaining cycle times for production department in
Pittsburg CA.
Manufacturing Engineer - 1996 to 1998 (Melbourne, Australia)
Reduce car build hours and develop Process maps. Supervisor of work team
assigned to work in the USA, repairing stainless steel cars for (SEPTA)
contract. This role included scheduling labor hours, supervising
production and sign off of final product. Supported project and production
managers, ensuring the timely delivery of rail cars. Liaison with
International customers, shop floor personnel, management and design
engineers. Coordinated the purchase, setup and commissioning of major jigs,
fixtures, machinery and test equipment.
Responsible to achieve and maintain cycle times for various types of
passenger rail cars in Melbourne Australia.
Leading Hand / Boilermaker - 1991 to 1996 (Melbourne, Australia)
Lead a team of boilermakers for the fabrication and assembly of roof, body
sides and under frames using both stainless and mild steel for the large
scale production of rail cars for both domestic and international
contracts.
ABB Construction-1985 to 1991 (Melbourne, Australia)
Leading hand and boilermaker, duties included supervision of fabrication of
steel member used in an array of projects including bridges, buildings,
sports stadiums, radio towers and atrium.

and furnaces, also site and rigging work, that included supervision of
