Dawn Foods Inc. Seattle, WA, July 2013 - Nov 2013
Brought in to this position to become General Manager for this dry mix
bakery goods facility. Responsible for all aspects of plant metrics
including production, maintenance, human resources, quality, capital
projects, P&L, budgeting, etc. Shortly after arrival in position, the plant
lost 2 key, high volume accounts, forcing layoffs. At this time, the GM I
was brought in to replace, was brought back down and I was laid off along
with production staff. Plant is to be scheduled for complete closure.
Tree Top Inc. Medford, OR, August 2008 - June 2013.
Plant Manager for fruit puree production facility. Direct all department
managers and plant operations totaling 350 plant and staff. Direct
creation, implementation, and supervision of capital projects, budgets and
forecasting. Report directly to Director of operations for company. Full
responsibility for puree business model from apple, pear, peach, and berry
operations from retail to co-pack operations in Aseptic packaging
operation.
Tyson Fresh Meats. Amarillo, TX, September 2006 - August 2008.
Industrial Engineer. Worked with establishing labor and production
standards, variances, and best demonstrated practices. Work with
contractors and capital expense reporting, budgets, ergonomic job
assessments, and crewing per product mix. Develop, in cooperation with
other plant management, efficiency reports and recommended improvements.
Developed revenue enhancement projects such as increased tallow and blood
capture processes, resulting in a 4 million dollar annual revenue increase.
Developed and maintained an annual cost savings plan equivalent to 5 times
annual salary. Work heavily with USDA standards and HACCP operating
procedures. Progression plan was changed by corporate, moving final
assignment from WA to KS causing a search for additional options for growth
outside the company.
Tyson Foods. Russellville, AR, May 2004- September 2006.
Maintenance Manager. Poultry plant which ran production of fried foods 6
days a week, 24 hours a day. Supervised 2 crews of 9 techs each covering
different shifts throughout week. Reported directly to the plant manager.
Maintained all scheduling, repair and installation in all areas of the
plant. Lead the implementation of SAP introduction, including electronic
tagging of all plant equipment, detailing the PM programs for each, and
ultimately reducing downtime from 17% weekly, to an average of 4%. Actively
pushed training and mentoring among all members of maintenance staff,
creating high levels of cross functional competence. When signed with this
company, the career path was to make the next progression to a corporate
engineering position in Beef division with company.
Kirby & Sons Maintenance Self-employed, Tucumcari, NM, Jan 1993- Dec 2003.
Contract and subcontract maintenance, repair and installation for
industrial, commercial, and residential consumers throughout north Texas,
New Mexico, and other major cities across the US. Contracts included set-
ups and remodels for Albertson's chain, to electrical and HVAC contract
with Denton Nursing Center, conveyor/warehouse distribution systems for
Frito Lay nationwide, high-rise fire remediation for First Interstate Bank
Headquarters in LA, Ca. etc. Heavy exposure to ADA, OSHA, and NIOSH
standards with regular inspections by and with many state and federal
inspection agencies. Completed many traveling renovation contracts on
commercial high-rise buildings and factories through insurance claims in
response to catastrophe (IE. fires, floods, chemical spills, etc.). These
contracts consist of extensive travel of up to 10 months per year and are
completed by implementing and supervising local crews (union and nonunion)
of as many as 75 workers spanning all trades. These contracts are based
heavily on deadlines and budgets, all of which are consistently met, in
both commercial and residential settings. Customer relations and service
developed to a high degree along with many years of experience and exposure
to a vast assortment of equipment and processes.
The decision to open my own business was based in part on the desire to go
back to school and pursue my degree. An already existent customer base from
past experiences and jobs created that opportunity. This allowed me to pick
and choose both my customers and my contracts to work around my school
load.
MLK Enterprises, Tucumcari, NM, July 2001- August 2003
Maintenance Manager for this enterprise, supervising a relatively small
staff of seventeen maintenance workers covering shifts 24/7, who repaired
and maintained several commercial buildings owned by the company. Took this
job in response to a customer from my personal business base that had
needs. I was able to perform these functions in addition to the running of
my business at the same time for 2 years.
SprayLat Inc. I35 N, Gainesville TX. 1998-2001. Maintenance Manager.
Supervised performance of all repair on powder paint manufacturing
equipment. Developed and incorporated detailed monthly P & M program with
attention to budget constraints. Heavy exposure to extruders, chillers, 480
volt 3 phase electrical installation and troubleshooting, DC drive
troubleshooting and repair. Maintained strict adherence to QC guidelines
with regards to all equipment and production. Trouble shooting equipment
with regards to faulty product in conjunction with R & D teams. Performed
all equipment repairs as needed/mechanical, electrical, pneumatic,
hydraulic, plumbing, HVAC, etc.
Gainesville Foundry, N. Weaver St. Gainesville, TX.1995-1998
Lead Maintenance. Performed all repair on manufacturing equipment. Perform
all necessary repair and routine maintenance on foundry equipment with high
regard for production schedules and quality. Reduced production scrap from
27% at date of hire to 2.5% before taking another position.

Professional Summary
Experienced Manager with many years of exposure to all phases of the
manufacturing industry. Last several years have been focused squarely on
food processing, where exposure to and work with FDA, USDA, EPA, and
several union authorities have helped to round out my experience. Recent
plant management experience, coupled with strong ties to my early
mechanical background, have furthered my exposure to business practices
within the industry. I have several years' experience spanning many unit
ops in many manufacturing environments with many product lines. This allows
