shift supervisor. A Paper Maker with over 15 years as a Supervisor and 25
total years Paper Mill experience. I am entrusted with safe and efficient
operation of the Paper Mill while working nights and weekends as the lone

producing quality paper products through the methods of Kaizen, Lean
Production, ISO, and Standard Operation Procedures. A position where safety
takes precedence, is attacked aggressively via training/enforcement and
leading to a continually improving safety record.
Achievements/Qualifications
Supervisor of 4 rotating shifts, with up to 45 Union Employees on some
shifts and a combined 150 Union Employees working on 2 Paper Machines, 2
Winders, 2 Converting Winders and a Laminator.
Knowledgeable in the production of Kraft, Enleaf, Board, File Folder,
Corrugated, Coated, Wallpaper, Printing and other Specialty Papers. The
manufacturing of Filtration Media to include Engine, High Efficiency Air
and Liquid, Battery Separator, Specialty and Industrial Non-Woven's.
Produced paper on both Fourdrinier, Roto-Former and Multi Headbox Dual
Layer Sheet Machines utilizing the following equipment: Stage Cleaners and
Rejects, Manual and Automatic Slice Adjustment, Foil and Box Suction
Systems, Steam Boxes, Dandy Formation, Manual and Automatic Couch Control,
Press and Wet Felts, Thru-dryers, On-line Porosity Head, Red Rays, Gravure
and Size Press Coating, Corrugator with Alignment and Depth Adjustment as
well as Steam Control, Dryer Felts, Impact I.R. Panel Heating, Marsden
Heating, Cooling Cans, Wet and Dry Stacks, Stack Coating, Super Calendar,
Impact Caliper Hot Air Improvement, Tulsa Turn-up Systems.
Kaizen/Lean/5s trained in manufacturing by Fintek Inc.
Led a Kaizen/Lean Production Event utilizing a combination of Management,
Salary and Union Workers to reduce Start-up and On the Fly Grade Changes.
This joint effort resulted in a 4 minute average reduction, on a production
line conducting 650 changes per year. The bottom line was a savings of
$85,000. The Huddle Board (a key element of the event) was accepted as a
Best Practice in all 9 mills worldwide.
Waste Water Treatment Plant: Responsible for the operation of the plant to
maintain Turbidity levels within the parameters of city and state
requirements. To monitor and make adjustments to P.H., Polymer, Acid,
Caustic, Fiber, Oberlin's, Sludge Presses, Lagoon Levels and flow to the
city.
Certified in Color/Dyeing by the Bayer Corporation Color School to include
Basic, Direct, Organic, Synthetic and Acid Dyes. Proficient in the
understanding of Anionic, Cationic Charge and the use of Polymers to
control them.
Participated in the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnerships,
Timewise, Lean 101 Write Workshop.
Designed a Material Safety Data Labeling System quickly identifying the
Chemical, Hazards and proper PPE for handling. This was adapted as a best
practice in all 9 mills worldwide.
Conducted countless 5s Events with a proven track record of insuring,
cleaning and identification methods are consistently applied, while
decreasing hazardous and dangerous conditions in the work area.
Write as well as train employees on Standard Operating Procedures, Safety
Job Analysis, Weekly Safety Training Meetings, MSDS, and Policies etc.
Conduct Incident/Accident Investigations and complete reports leading to
additional training, procedural change and/or discipline.
Trained as Emergency Coordinator in Hazardous Chemicals Spills, Fires and
all Emergencies.
Implemented a Color Coding System for identifying Waste Paper, improving
usage and resulting in increased yields.
Skilled in the production of over 300 different colors of paper. Competent
in the use of a Bran and Lubbe Color Monitoring System to make immediate
adjustments as updates are received from the On Line Spectrophotometer.
Observed the causes and initiated, coordinated the installation of
electronic eyes used to eliminate a dangerous and costly fire problem.

Complete work orders, award over time, and fill out time cards using
Winstar and Kronos.

Levels, P.H. levels and make adjustments to Polymers, Chembreak and Ferric.

Entry level to Shift Supervisor
A Paper Mill producing over 500 grades of paper in End leaf, Corrugated,
File Folder, Cover, Paper Board, Kraft, Recycled and many other Specialty
Papers. Produced grades from 20# to 360# Basis Weight that were coated with
Starch, Poly, Fire Retardant Emulsion, Dyes using Size Press and Wet Stack
applications. Started at the entry level union position in the Machine Room
and advanced to the highest position of Machine Tender before promotion to
Shift Supervisor. Performed the duties of Utility, 4th Hand, Winder/Slitter
Operator, Machine Operator, Mechanical Helper, Stock Preparation, Shipping
etc. Supervised all department associated with two Paper Making Machines
as well as Color/Dye and Sheeting/Rewinding Departments. Oversee an
extensive Coloring/Dyeing System utilizing 80% dyeing in the Stock
Preparation Area and 20% dyeing directly to the machine for immediate
adjustment.
