* Responsible for winning the first and second strictly environmental projects at Sterling. The projects were primarily a groundwater remediation project in northern California ($3.7 million) and a Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study in Puerto Rico ($1.5 million). Sterling, generally well known for unexploded ordnance and minefield clearance, is now branching out to become a more versatile engineering services firm and I was responsible for finding environmental projects.
* Business development efforts were centered on ensuring Sterling Operations was recognized as working beyond the limits for the former EODT and was seen as capable of expanding services to environmental projects. The main focal point for this BD effort was the US Army Corps of Engineers, specifically the Baltimore District.

* Directed the Project Delivery Team for 17 separate projects totaling $41.5 million in Baghdad, Iraq east of the Tigris River. USACE Project Management is designed for the Project Manager to take full responsibility for a project from inception to closeout.

* Performed Initial Site Assessments for sites in the US Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District. As a registered professional engineer in Kentucky and other states, provided technical oversight and quality control review of reports drafted by other staff associates.
* Conducted RCRA closure activities and certified closure at a former open burn/open detonation site at Avon Park Air Force Range in Florida that was located in an inactive bombing range.
* Performed dozens of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM procedures.
* Prepared and certified Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) plans for industrial and governmental clients.

* Expedited the excavation and disposal of approximately 55,000 cubic meters of radiologically contaminated soil from several acres of contaminated fields and creek beds under FUSRAP. Served as the site manager for the excavation of contaminated soil from a drainage channel. This was the first FUSRAP project under the US Army Corps of Engineers of projects once held by the US Department of Energy.
* Led a team of RCRA professionals to assess compliance at US Air Force locations in the USA and abroad under the Environmental Compliance Assessment and Management Program (ECAMP). These assessments required extensive familiarity with the various functional areas under RCRA, as well as a thorough knowledge of requirements for compliance with the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.
* Performed RCRA closure planning and execution of a former open burn/open detonation site at Avon Park Air Force Range, FL. Worked closely with Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
* Assessed compliance with RCRA regulations at many hazardous waste transfer, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDF) to determine whether a major manufacturing facility was disposing of hazardous waste at reputable facilities. These assessments were performed in accordance with a set protocol; findings were presented to the client commissioning the assessments and presented by the client to the assessed facility for corrective action.
* Executed an underground storage tank (UST) removal project consisting of nine tanks ranging from a 3,800-L fuel oil tank to a 45,500-L diesel fuel tank. Field manager overseeing construction work, sampled soil and groundwater, and ensured complete removal of contaminated soil and water.
* Prepared the Site Treatment Plan for the treatment and disposal of mixed low-level radioactive waste stored at the DOE Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon, Ohio. Coordinated with other plan writers from several companies in the preparation of plans for several DOE sites throughout Ohio to comply with Ohio EPA demands.
* Wrote a Configuration Management Plan to convert Building X-7725A into a PCB waste storage building at the DOE Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon, Ohio.
