Joanne Kent, Graphic Designer, has 30 years of professional experience. She designs and
produces publications, brochures, newsletters, posters, and other marketing materials, and
designs logos. Ms. Kent also paints and sculpts, frequently exhibiting her work professionally.
She has received several grants for artists, including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant and
grants from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities. She has a Master of Fine Arts
degree from the University of Minnesota.

Independent Consultant (2012–present)
Designs and produces publications, brochures, newsletters, posters, and other

Publications (1985–2012)
Senior Graphic Designer/Desktop Publishing Specialist (1992–2012). Designed and
produced brochures, newsletters, posters, and other marketing collateral and publications
in English, French, and Spanish. Photographed all home office staff and many field staff
and DAI events. Assisted in videotaping staff interviews and events. Provided graphic
support to DAI international offices. Has designed, developed, and maintained websites.
Redesigned the DAI and USAID Microenterprise Innovation Project websites, and has
designed several other technical assistance project websites. Also proofread and edited
reports and proposals.
Desktop Publishing Specialist (1987–1992). Worked part-time and as a freelancer for DAI,
producing reports, proposals, and marketing materials.
Word Processor/Proofreader (1985–1987). Formatted technical reports and proposals,
and proofread text.

Editor, Chemonics International (1990–1997). Edited reports and proposals for USAID-
and World Bank-funded projects.

Paints and sculpts; exhibits work professionally. One-person exhibitions have included shows
at Gallery K, Parish Gallery, Anton Gallery, and Hardart, all in Washington, D.C., and at the
Gray Gallery at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Has also participated in group shows at
Signals 66, the Museum of the Americas, World Bank, District of Columbia Arts Center,
Washington Project for the Arts, Andrea Ruggieri Gallery, and many others in Washington,
D.C.; Lindberg Gallery, New York City; Intervistas outdoor sculpture exhibit in Brooklyn;
McLean Project for the Arts in Virginia; the BauHaus in Baltimore; and in Atlanta, Georgia.
RELATED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Has worked for Louis Berger, International; Synergy, Inc.; Energy/Development International;
Gordian Associates, Inc.; and National Public Radio doing document production work. Also
worked at the University of Maryland’s European Division as administrative assistant to the
coordinator of its English classes, which were taught at U.S. military bases throughout Europe,
and as administrative and research assistant for the Washington Bureau of Newsday (a Long
Island daily).
While in graduate school at the University of Minnesota, taught drawing classes to architecture
students for two years and taught one class of painting to art students.
