WORK EXPERIENCE
Staff FNP
House Call Doctors of Texas- Austin, TX.- July 2013 to present
Serve as Primary Care Physician to homebound patients and to patients in
facilities. Most the patients that I serve are elderly and have multiple
chronic health issues. Responsibilities include obtaining H&Ps, assessing
relevant positive and negative clinical findings, planning and coordinating
plan of care based on clinical assessment findings, ordering and
interpreting needed tests and screenings, ordering pharmacological and non-
pharmacological treatments, evaluating efficacy of plan of care at each
visit, refilling patient medications, making referrals to specialists when
indicated, ordering home health disciplines when indicated, and doing face
to face visits for both home health services and durable medical equipment.
Other responsibilities include participation in provider meetings, quality
assurance, and call rotation.
FNP Clinical Rotation
Legacy Primary Care Clinic - Shenandoah, TX - April 2011 to April 2012
In conjunction with my physician preceptor and clinical faculty from UTMB,
I gained additional experience in
doing H&Ps, assessing the health status of clients with both acute and
chronic health problems, assessing family
dynamics, structure, and available resources. Also, under the direction of
my clinical preceptor Dr. H. Al-Khadour
M.D. Board Certified Internal Medicine, we worked up medically complex
patients and developed problem lists
on patients that were often referred to the clinic from other medical
providers. Dr. Al-Khadour is very good at
teaching and pointing out clinical features of clinical situations and
diagnoses that are often beyond the scope
of family practice providers to diagnose and treat appropriately. I ordered
test, other diagnostic procedures, and
consultations with other specialists as needed. Also, I prescribed
medications and other therapeutic modalities
to treat and/or relief the symptoms of our clinical patients. Again, I did
a lot of patient and family education and
anticipatory guidance in my role as a senior student nurse practitioner.
Also, I had the unique opportunity in this
clinic to assist with development of skills in the clinic's back office
staff in such areas as infusion therapy, 12 lead
ECG interpretation, and assisting with administration of trigger point
injections.
FNP Clinical Rotation
Maternal & Family Clinic - Conroe, TX - August 2009 to April 2011
In conjunction with my physician preceptors and clinical faculty from UTMB,
I gained experience in doing H&Ps,
assessing the health status of clients, assessing family structure,
dynamics, available resources, developing patient
problem lists, working clients up to assist in ruling in/out various
differential diagnoses, ordering of tests, other
diagnostic procedures, and consultations with other medical providers as
needed or warranted. Also, after gaining
additional experience in this role, I began to prescribe medications and
other therapeutic modalities for our patients
under the supervision of my clinical preceptors. Also, I did a lot of
patient/parent education and anticipatory
guidance in my role as a student nurse practitioner. The main patient
populations that I provided care to during this
rotation were pediatric patients under the direction of Dr. Krenie Stowe
M.D., J.D. and patients requiring women's
health services under the direction of Dr. Marian Allen M.D.
