EXPERIENCE SUMMARY
I have a total of almost 9 years clinical experience in a hospital setting mostly in tertiary hospitals
and medical centers. My first clinical experience as a staff nurse happened a month after passing my
licensure examination in 1996 and I was assigned in the ER until April 1997.
The next two years were part of my clinical exposure as a medical clerk in 2000-2001 and
medical intern in 2001-2002. As a medical clerk, I rotated in various special and major areas in Ospital ng
Maynila Medical Center (OMMC) like ER, OR, ICU, and DR. And as a medical intern, I were assigned
to different major areas in University of the Philippines,Manila-Philippine General Hospital (UPM-PGH).
OMMC and PGH are both medical centers with more than 600-bed capacity and caters for different types
of diseases and needs.
After passing the Physicians’ Licensure Examination in August 2002, I worked as a resident
physician in Poblete Hospital in Alfonso, Cavite. Most of the time we handle different emergency cases
ranging from adult and pediatric medical, surgical, and trauma cases. My escapade as a doctor in Cavite
ended in August 2004.
After 2 years of working as a general physician, I decided to pursue my original choice of
profession and that is to become a nurse in the USA or Europe. I applied and worked as a Staff Nurse in
the Emergency Room of St. Martin Hospital which is a 100-bed capacity hospital in the heart of Noveleta,
Cavite for two years. At the same time teaching as a part-time faculty and still practicing in my home
clinic during weekends. I am capable and well-trained in various procedures in an emergency set up
namely proper airway ventilation, endotracheal intubation, intravenous insertion, ECG tracing and partial
reading to mention a few. I am also efficient in other aspects of nursing care like assessment, diagnosing,
suctioning, nebulization, suturing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and administering parenteral and oral
medications.
To compensate for the low income of a staff nurse, I also worked as a part-time then full-time
clinical instructor at University of Perpetual Help-Manila teaching Anatomy-Physiology and
Microbiology and Parasitology. While waiting for my papers to be current, I was promoted to handle
nursing students in the clinical area of San Lazaro Hospital and National Center for Mental Health.
On February 2010, I decided to apply as a staff nurse in Perpetual Help Hospital Manila but the
only available post was a part-time position. I applied and eventually selected from hundreds of
applicants. I was assigned mostly in the emergency room but sometimes pulled out to the OR or ICU. I
performed various responsibilities almost similar to the ones I mentioned above.
On February 7, 2013, I started working as a Full-Time Visiting Nurse or Case Manager in
Stratford VNA in Stratford, Connecticut. As a Case Manager I managed different cases like CHF, DM,
COPD, cancer, ESRD undergoing outpatient hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis at home, and post op
patients. And I am also trained and now practicing various techniques needed by a case manager like
wound care of various kinds depending on MD order or instructions coming from WCC or centers, and
using PICC line for IV antibiotics and blood extraction.
On September 5, 2013, I began my journey as a ED staff nurse in San Joaquin Community
Hospital, performing critical care assessment, intervention and evaluation of various cases during my
shift.
