Selected Accomplishments
Shift from Waterfall to Agile yields 50% increase in on-time delivery.
Comcast software development teams were missing time and budget goals due
to constantly changing requirements. Shifted teams from waterfall software
development methodology to Agile. Increased on time delivery of features
from 60% to 90%.
Consolidated Comcast software development and QA functions, increasing
efficiency 10%. Too many bugs were not being found until late in project.
Created teams with development and QA around specific area of
functionality, enabling discovery of issues earlier in process. Eliminated
long tail bug fix cycles at end of project.
Turned around stalled project, delivering on-time and within budget.
Comcast software development project was in disarray. Assumed project lead.
Organized development teams into small groups around features and created
overall schedule. Forecasted and delivered project on time and budget from
time of project takeover.
Led debugging efforts, meeting critical deadline for Comcast. Large number
of bugs in software were outstanding. Extended hours to address bugs. Made
the extended time more "fun" for the developers by setting up games and
small prizes for addressing bugs. Team stepped up and addressed the issues
within the deadline.
Created information management process, reducing customer calls 10%.
Comcast customer call rate was very high due to hardware, software,
environment, etc., issues. Created software tools to gather information
from field, score metrics and graphically display potential trouble spots.
Detected/addressed issues customer call.
Innovated software shortcut, enabling low-cost addition of five million
subscribers. Comcast needed to expand number of navigation software
platforms, but could not do it without rewriting software for each
platform. Devised portability layer in each platform software such that
only portability layer had to be re-written.
