PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Worked as a Marine Engineer onboard for 18 years with a strong experience

in maintaining all shipboard machinery, which is diverse in nature with

good materials management & inventory control. Also worked as Chief

Engineer of Three International Passenger / Cruise ships in the last 3

years of service onboard. Have been working as a Director and involved in

setting up and teaching at Vishwakarma Maritime Institute, Pune for last

eight years to make it a world class marine institute.

EXPERIENCE PROFILE

1) 16th Aug 2005 To 25th May 2013

Had been working in the capacity of Director in setting up the new maritime

institute - Vishwakarma Maritime Institute (VMI), Pune from scratch for an

educational trust. Involved from construction stage of the institute till

its completion in conformance to DGS and shipping norms. Involved in

submission and approval of all proposals to DGS with individual

representation for all marine courses. Started the institute with GME

course in 2009 and expanded to DNS and 4 years Marine Engineering course in

the span of 3 years to make the institute self sufficient. Initiated and

concluded a unique Tie - up arrangement with BSM - Bernhard Schulte Ship

Management Ltd to ensure jobs for all VMI cadets on passing out from the

institute. Set up the complete institute along with a fully functional and

a DGS approved "Ship in Campus" to make it a leading institute in the

western region

2) 26th Feb 2004 To 1st May 2005

Had been working as a Professor - Marine Engineering at MANET, Pune,

teaching Marine subjects along with setting up workshops and a fully

functional and a DGS approved "Ship in Campus". Have completed "Training

for Trainers and Assessors "(TOTA) course as required by DG shipping as per

STCW 95.

3) 2001 May To 2003 March

Worked as Chief engineer on Passenger / Cruise ships around the world for

these two years as with the last ship experience. Job involved complete

management of operations & maintenance of machinery on board with safe

working practices. Was also additionally involved in safety matters of the

ship .Responsibilities were as addressed in the job profile given below in

points 4 and 8

4) 2000 Dec TO 2001 May

Worked as Chief engineer with "THE HYUNDAI HOTEL HAEGUMGANG, KOREA" of

Hyundai Hotels for a contract of 4 1/2 months. The 5 star deluxe floating

hotel / Cruise Ship built in 1988, has 180 luxurious rooms and suites, 5

food and beverage outlets, conference facilities, health club, swimming

pool, shopping areas and Discotheque.

5) 1999 Sept TO 2000 December

Worked as Chief engineer with "HOLIDAY INN, PUNE "for 15 1/2 months. The 5

star deluxe hotel, built in 1995, has 115 luxurious rooms and suites, 3

Food and Beverage outlets, Conference facilities, Health club, Swimming

pool, Spa's, Shopping areas and Discotheque.

6) 1999 Feb TO 1999 July

Worked as a Operation & Plant Maintenance Consultant with M/s Weikfield

Agro Products Limited, Pune for 6 months. It's a Food processing company

involved in growing mushrooms and exporting same in the international

markets. They were also involved in producing other agro/process food

products. Job involved complete setting up a maintenance program and

implementation of same for smooth functioning of the industry.

7) 1998 Dec TO 1999 July

Received training in SAP R/3 from Continental Informatics, Pune in SAP R/3

Plant Maintenance module. Was working on live projects for 7 months with

M/S Videocon.

8) 1985 TO 1998

Worked with various International Shipping Companies like Chowgule

Steamships Ltd,

Denholm Ship management Ltd (Glasgow) & Century Shipping Company till the

rank of 2nd

Engineer. Worked with V. Ships Marine Ltd, (New York) as "Chief Engineer"

for 18 months

on board. The company has QS 9000 accreditation. I have been associated

with V Ships

Marine Ltd. from 1992 onwards in ranks of 2nd Engineer and then as Chief

Engineer till

1998. I have worked on different types of ships like Bulk Carriers,

Container Vessels,

General Cargo ships, Chemical Tankers etc.
