African Strategic

Most recent job,

Based in London. My role, Researcher and Logistics Consultant.

Identifying and securing commercial investment opportunities is the very essence of African

Strategic's commercial intelligence services

Gathering information for the company in particular fields such as diamonds and mineral.

Collecting as much data as i can find, so the partners are able to view the origin of my data in

Africa, and decide if investment is worth while.

Where strong local partnership are an added commercial advantage to leveraging existing markets

and opportunities, or accessing new ones, African Strategic is able to advise throughout the

process, from helping shape strong BEE partnerships and structures in South Africa, to

identifying and securing reliable local partner relationships across Africa.

Since returning from South Africa I have worked in both the retail and catering and hospitality

industries.

Retail/sales/customer service and hospitality As a Sales Assistant I gained valuable skills in

selling, dealing with the public, customer care, stock checking/taking inventories and dealing

with deliveries and ordering of stock. Jobs include:-

6. Top Golf Games Centre: Worked as a sales consultant, commission based. Although we had

a standard wage we were able to earn 10% commission by selling game deals up to £150. Top

sellers earned extra bonus’s which I did most months.

7. Boots Opticians: Worked as a sales consultant but was the stores administrator. I was to

upsell frames of glasses and dispense lenses which becomes a more in depth concept. I was

also to order new stock, manage finances, all with a professional attitude.

8. Loch Fyne: Worked as a barmen and waiter in a high class restaurant.

July 2006 – February 2007

(Events Assistant), The Edward Mae Company Ltd, Studio 88, 2 Lansdowne Row, London, W1J

6HL.

Worked as a ‘free-lance’ event assistant for a UK presentation company which organises events in

the UK and abroad. I worked on various events including conferences, road-shows and public

awareness campaigns.

June 2005 – June 2006 (Gap Year) ‘Yebo Africa’ Charity supported by The Karathanassis

Foundation.

Spent one year in South Africa working for charity, ‘Yebo Africa’. Travelled to Northern

KwaZulu-Natal where I actively participated in more than three field missions. ‘Yebo Africa’ is a

charity which provides direct assistance to HIV/AIDS orphans and child-headed families in the

worst HIV/AIDS affected area in the world.

I am still active with the charity and will spend my annual leave travelling to Africa

Personal statement

I believe my strongest attributes are; a genuine ability to ‘get along’ with people and an ability to

work in pressurised working environment. I have a cheerful disposition and am an honest and

hard working person who strives to give his best. I am able to work within a team and also enjoy

the challenge of using my own initiative.

My interests outside of work include keeping fit, playing football, socialising with friends and

listening to music.
