Project Description:

Inter Operator billing and Accounting System (IOBAS) is used to generate Invoices for different OLO’s (Other

Licensed Operators) across 16 circles in India. Across these 16 circles, we have many OLO’s like Bharti, Reliance, and

Tata etc. There are generally 4 operator types (services) in this system they are BSO, CMSP, NLDO, and ILDO. The

information for the system is supplied through CDR’s (Call Data Record) which consists of both Interconnect (Calls

Originated from OLO to BSNL [or] BSNL to OLO) and Non Interconnect calls (Calls Originated from BSNL to BSNL).

Totally there are 5 switches that generate CDR’s they are CDOT, AXE, 5ESS, EWSD, OCB. Each CDR consists of

Calling number, Called number, Trunk group, duration etc.

The CDR’s are first present in the raw state in Telephone Exchange switches. These CDR’s are placed in the

POI (Point of Interconnect) PC by the POI PC incharge at particular telephone exchange in binary format and then

renames by using renaming utility software. These renamed files are collected to respective FTP Servers (Across 16

Circles) and then to Data Center (DC) for mediation process. The mediation is done by using appropriate switch wise

converters where the collected raw file is changed from binary format to ASCII file format. Before rating of these CDRs,

we separate both Interconnect and Non Interconnect CDRs (calls) through filtration mechanism since the billing is done

only for Interconnect calls. After filtration, we rate those Interconnect CDR’s for generation of Invoices for different

operators and operator types (services).Apart from these, we also perform Time Gap Analysis reports, Record

continuity checks to identify the missing CDR as soon as we receive the CDR file to Data Center.

Contribution

**As a part of the team, was responsible for day to day operations of IOBAS which mainly include:

• Data Collection

Acquired good knowledge on problems encountered on different kinds of network connectivity’s (ISDN, PSTN, LAN,

WAN), ensuring data integrity while collection of data across the network and automation of the collection process

using UNIX shell scripts and ftp protocol. Have good knowledge on CISCO routers while configuring various dialers

on ISDN connectivity and solving various ISDN related problems.

• Mediation

Worked on various conversion routines for various telecom switches (Alcatel OCB, Siemens EWSD, Ericsson AXE,

Lucent’s 5ESS, ITI’s CDOT) and handled many conversion related problems while testing and was also successful

in tightly coupling the various activities involved in mediation by automating conversion of CDRs, filtering of CDRs

with respect to trunk groups and removal of duplicate CDRs.

• Business Configuration

Possess fine knowledge of various reference data configuration and responsible for the implementation of various

call scenario in billing system

• Processing

In this module we are rating the calls as per IUC by using TUXEDO and pumping the CDRs to traffic table in a

normalized form. Since we are processing huge volume of data hence we required to manage space availability for

the rated CDRs at day wise & index partitions. Need to monitor various tuxedo error, compilation error, oracle error,

processing speed performance and server hard ware error if any.

• Invoicing

Possess fine knowledge on various rounding off issues and aggregating the calls which are rated, according to

required format by creating various procedures in oracle.

• Reports

Possess fine knowledge on various reports such as: ILDO TRAI, ADC TRAI, Country wise report etc.

Project Description:

The overall scope of the project is to capture the client’s requirements, develop and implement Convergent Billing

System. The solution provides one platform to implement varied services offered by MTNL – GSM, Wire line, CDMA,

Leased Line, Internet, Broadband, ISDN, IN, INet. The Billing Module’s scope is to analyze the billing requirements

considering all the Lines of Businesses, configure these requirements in the Intec Singl.eView Billing System and

develop integration with all other systems such as PeopleSoft CRM, Sys Team Mediation, Sys Team Provisioning,

MTNL Financial Management System, Kodak Printing System, etc. The Singl.eView Convergent Billing system will be

centralized single platform for all business of MTNL enabling MTNL the flexibility of managing the Customer, Products,
