In my current position as a business analyst I am involved in product development tasks where we create new
products according to group requirements and we support the ad hoc product development requests of the Sales
Department. In the framework of these projects my role is the gathering and the documentation of the
stakeholders’ requirements and producing the system requirements specification to support the development
team’s work.
Recently I also work on the Solvency II Project, focusing on data quality requirements. With the involvement of
project team members delegated by the Finance and Actuarial Department, we completed a data inventory and
data definitions, by specifying the Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 data quality criteria, safeguarding the data
integrity of file communication of the back-end system and the interfaces.
In the FATCA Project I have to compose the set of changes what we are obliged to execute in our back-end
system, in the client letters and other documents as well as in the business processes on the basis of ING Group
and legal requirements. The primary stakeholder is the company lawyer who provides me with legal feedback.
Further stakeholders are the Product Management Team who is responsible for the content and layout of client
documentation as well as the Administration Team to align changes on the screens of the back-end system and
to agree upon the process changes (e.g.: new mandatory data capturing, to enable us to find FATCA indicia or to
perform detailed manual checks in the clients’ documents).

Our group has developed a new life insurance product for the Italian market. The software development was
outsourced to the TATA Consulting Services company and the business analysis has been performed by a team
of delegated specialists. The project consisted of a new front-end system for the private bankers of the Italian
bank where the product was marketed and of the development of the new Variable Annuity product in the back-
end system.
On the basis of my actuarial experiences, my role in the workgroup was to define business requirements by
giving details of the product behaviour (e.g. calculations of product charges, fees, transactions, etc), also
preparing test plans by providing detailed test scenarios to the testing group. My role also included the
preparation and co-ordination of the user acceptance test and the ’friends and family’ test with the involvement
of the Italian private bankers.
