Atlanta, Georgia

OBJECTIVE: A part-time, independent contractor position in the medical transcription field, where I can

work from home and where my experience and skills will add value to operations.

SKILLS: Advanced medical terminology, computer, writing/editing, transcribing, and teaching skills. I

completed the MT training program in 2010 and 2011 through Career Step, where I graduated with 97%

accuracy on the objective and transcription portion. I completed the MTE speech recognition and editing

module in 2012 and completed recertification September 2013, where I achieved 98.5% accuracy. I am

used to working unsupervised! Additional skills that substantiate my value:

• Taught anatomy, physiology, and disease pathology to massage therapy students at Georgia Career

Institute and Gwinett College, 2005-2009, one evening each week. Prepared students for National Board

Exams with materials that increased their knowledge of medical terminology, anatomical terms,

procedures, and business ethics.

• Wrote, typed, edited, and e-published a 1500-page book on integrative and natural healthcare, based on

my research and practice as a natural healthcare consultant. Revised edition completed in 2013:

www.healingpathinc.com: Finding Balance.

• Advanced user of Microsoft Office 2010 programs, including: Microsoft Word, Power Point, Publisher,

Excel and Works throughout my business career. User of numerous adjunct software programs that facilitate

accuracy, planning, and communication skills . I developed a 3,000 + medical word expander list while

completing my training with CareerStep through Shorthand for Windows, Version 10.

• Dictation Equipment: Trial version of Express Scribe installed on Windows XP desktop, with VP1

foot pedal. Secured by McAfee and StopZilla. This is a transcription-dedicated computer. Am open to

using other software and equipment. High-speed internet hardwired.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• 1994-Current (retired): Naturopath/Massage Therapist (owner): HEALING PATH, INC.

Responsibilities: author, teacher, lecturer, coach, caregiver, and wellness provider to the greater Atlanta

community. I provided 15,000+ sessions in the field of disease prevention and pain management, working with

chiropractors, oncologists, orthopedic specialists, plastic surgeons and therapists in the field of pain management,

developmental and delay disorders, including autism. I linked resources to patients in my field of study which

included nutrition and supplementation, behavioral therapies, therapeutic exercise, advanced homeopathy and bio-

energetic medicine. Patients referred to me were looking for alternatives to pharmaceutical drugs and/or surgery,

or followup after surgery and/or drug course was complete. Training as a medical transcriptionist expanded

my vocabulary in surgical and non-surgical procedures, use of pharmaceutical drugs and diagnoses,

specialty labs, therapeutic procedures, and radiological procedures that I did not encounter as a

naturopath.

• 1984 – 1994: Project Manager (sub-contractor). Drafting/design of interior projects for multiple Atlanta

area companies, including retail, corporate, medical, sports and government projects. I became a specialist in how

the built environment impacts human health and pioneered solutions in the field of ergonomics. I worked from

my home office and sometimes in-house with large and small teams, depending on project demands. This was a

highly deadline-driven field that required planning, time management, and development of team skills over the

phone. I developed presentation, accounting, budgeting, customer service, and administrative skills.
