OBJECTIVE: A part-time, independent contractor position in the medical transcription field, where I can
work from home and where my experience and skills will add value to operations.
SKILLS: Advanced medical terminology, computer, writing/editing, transcribing, and teaching skills. I
completed the MT training program in 2010 and 2011 through Career Step, where I graduated with 97%
accuracy on the objective and transcription portion. I completed the MTE speech recognition and editing
module in 2012 and completed recertification September 2013, where I achieved 98.5% accuracy. I am
used to working unsupervised! Additional skills that substantiate my value:
• Taught anatomy, physiology, and disease pathology to massage therapy students at Georgia Career
Institute and Gwinett College, 2005-2009, one evening each week. Prepared students for National Board
Exams with materials that increased their knowledge of medical terminology, anatomical terms,
procedures, and business ethics.
• Wrote, typed, edited, and e-published a 1500-page book on integrative and natural healthcare, based on
my research and practice as a natural healthcare consultant. Revised edition completed in 2013:

• Advanced user of Microsoft Office 2010 programs, including: Microsoft Word, Power Point, Publisher,
Excel and Works throughout my business career. User of numerous adjunct software programs that facilitate
accuracy, planning, and communication skills . I developed a 3,000 + medical word expander list while
completing my training with CareerStep through Shorthand for Windows, Version 10.
• Dictation Equipment: Trial version of Express Scribe installed on Windows XP desktop, with VP1
foot pedal. Secured by McAfee and StopZilla. This is a transcription-dedicated computer. Am open to
using other software and equipment. High-speed internet hardwired.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• 1994-Current (retired): Naturopath/Massage Therapist (owner): HEALING PATH, INC.
Responsibilities: author, teacher, lecturer, coach, caregiver, and wellness provider to the greater Atlanta
community. I provided 15,000+ sessions in the field of disease prevention and pain management, working with
chiropractors, oncologists, orthopedic specialists, plastic surgeons and therapists in the field of pain management,
developmental and delay disorders, including autism. I linked resources to patients in my field of study which
included nutrition and supplementation, behavioral therapies, therapeutic exercise, advanced homeopathy and bio-
energetic medicine. Patients referred to me were looking for alternatives to pharmaceutical drugs and/or surgery,
or followup after surgery and/or drug course was complete. Training as a medical transcriptionist expanded
my vocabulary in surgical and non-surgical procedures, use of pharmaceutical drugs and diagnoses,
specialty labs, therapeutic procedures, and radiological procedures that I did not encounter as a
naturopath.
• 1984 – 1994: Project Manager (sub-contractor). Drafting/design of interior projects for multiple Atlanta
area companies, including retail, corporate, medical, sports and government projects. I became a specialist in how
the built environment impacts human health and pioneered solutions in the field of ergonomics. I worked from
my home office and sometimes in-house with large and small teams, depending on project demands. This was a
highly deadline-driven field that required planning, time management, and development of team skills over the
phone. I developed presentation, accounting, budgeting, customer service, and administrative skills.

WORK EXPERIENCE (Continued):
• 1974 – 1984: Administrative Assistant (employee). Provided secretarial, typing, organizational and
administrative services to West Georgia Medical Center (medical transcription 1976 – 1978), Gulf and Western
Corporation (legal transcription 1978 – 1979) and Georgia State University (administrative assistant
transcription, 23 professors, 1979 – 1984) while working my way through college. I developed early
transcription and listening skills that have been a part of my career path throughout my life. These skills
enabled me to handle large amounts of information and eventually compile them in an organized manner
to be used by others.
COLLEGE EDUCATION PRIOR TO MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION/MEDICAL WRITING &
EDITING:
• 2002 – 2004: Post-Doctoral Degree in Bio-Energetic Medicine : Academy of Bio-Energetic Medicine,
Humansville (Springfield), Missouri. Primarily, this was an on-line course with supervised in-person
seminars/laboratory/clinical conferences 6 times over a 2-year period. The post-doctoral degree was awarded for
the publication of my book, which compiled protocols for over 15,000 documented sessions in natural health care,
completed at my center.
• 1998 – 2001: Doctoral Degree in Natural Health : Southern College of Naturopathic Medicine and
Arkansas College of Natural Health, an accrediting College with licensed clinical supervision in medical
examination procedures, diagnosis, prescription and dispensing procedures for natural medicine. I presented my
case studies in galvanic skin measurement, focusing on the impact of neurotransmitter, enzymatic, amino acid,
and homeopathic detoxification therapies.
• 1995 – 1998: Master’s Degree in Natural Health: Academy of Bio-Energetic Medicine, where I
received training in homeopathy, herbal medicine, diet, and nutritional supplementation protocols for illness and
disease. I participated in advanced galvanic skin measurement training, which formed the laboratory and research
validation for diagnosis. I participated in a national project upon graduation that led to my advanced degrees
listed above. The companies involved were BioMeridian and ZYTO™ Corporation. I helped develop and
provide patient feedback regarding an evolving examination and software module to determine causes of
imbalances, stressors, and effects upon the human condition. I continue to patent my protocols through the ZYTO
software for other doctors to use in galvanic skin measurement scans.
• 1994 – 1995: Licensed Massage Therapist/Therapeutic Bodywork: Graduate of Atlanta School of
Massage, Upledger Institute, John Barnes, and The Vodder Institute. Basic massage therapy training at the
Atlanta School of Massage in 1994. Advanced graduate studies in Vodder Lymphatic Drainage™, Neuromuscular
Therapy™ (Dr. Chaitow and Upledger Institute), Trigger Point and Pain Injection Therapies, Myofascial
Release™, Craniosacral™ and SomatoEmotional Release™ therapies. Note: All courses completed between
1995 and 1999 were advanced certifications and followup to initial massage program, eventually accredited
towards my doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. I also took a course in Traditional Chinese
Medicine/Acupuncture and Chi Gong therapies, participated widely in yogic therapies and meditation (40 years
now), and exercise physiology through Aquatics, which I incorporated into my center.
• 1979 – 1984: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Architecture: Georgia State University. Awarded
honors for leadership and scholarship. Graduated all programs Summa Cum Laude.
