WALTER COKE (WALTER ENERGY), Birmingham, AL (Walter Coke (formally Sloss Industries) is a major manufacturer of coke for use in blast furnaces and foundries. The operation consists of three batteries with a total of 120 coke ovens which produce approximately 460,000 tons of coke each year.)
Safety and Environmental Coordinator 2006 - 2013
* Coordinated all safety issues at a 500 acre heavy industrial manufacturing complex with 350 employees including a Rail Yard, By-Products, Utilities, Slag Wool and Biological Treatment Facility.
* Reduced reportable injuries by 75 percent through training, safety committees, coordinated accident investigations and inspections.
* Developed and conducted safety training orientation sessions which included OSHA and EHS policies and procedures.
* Created and implemented a new plant wide safety program and inspection procedure that utilized inspection teams in a more efficient manner.
* Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee in monthly inspections and resolution of findings.
