Abington Memorial Hospital, 2003-2009
Abington Memorial Hospital is a Magnet status teaching Hospital with 790
inpatient beds and multiple ambulatory sites.
Managed Materials Management Department with 70 staff members to ensure
efficient purchasing receiving and distribution for this hospital. Provided
a strategic vision for the supply chain function an executed operational
tactics necessary to achieve the vision. Reported to the Vice President,
General Services and subsequently to the CFO.
. Led year-long initiative to re-negotiate key vendor contracts,
focusing on price reduction and long-range cost containment. Achieved
85% of target reductions first year.
. Re-negotiated vendor contracts to save $750k after top management
asked for across-the-board reduction in supply costs.
. Ran a LUM with Owens and Minor and kept service at or below Par levels
each year.
. As Project Leader, sourced, evaluated and recruited Certified Minority
vendors by working with Minority Supplier Development Council and
others. Increased minority spend from $10k to $4M first year.

Jersey Shore University Medical Center is a 500 bed teaching Hospital and
the largest in Meridian Health System, a four Hospital network in Central
and Southern Jersey.
Oversaw materials management systems for facility with Level II Trauma
Center including procurement, processing and distribution of materials and
services.
. Designed par-level replenishment system to cut stock-outs 78% as the
Hospital was expecting near constant stock-outs, creating patient care
issues.
. Implemented the Just In Time (JIT) program to ensure a LUM and
decrease the on hand inventory to stockless model.
