Roles and Responsibilities as Chief Shipwright Artificer -Indian Navy

- Training of various Fire fighting Techniques for all types of

fire

- Training and demonstration of various fire Fighting

equipments and accessories

- Auditing and inspection of Safety Systems and Life saving

equipments

- Training and implementation of Emergency procedures and

Evacuations techniques

- Responsible for conducting mock drills and smoke drills

- Responsible for conducting safety Seminars and training

- Ensuring NBC (Nuclear, Chemical and Biological) warfare

- Advisor to Captain during actual emergency such as Fire,

Damage, Flooding etc

structure and safety

- Maintenance and Operation of all Fixed Fire systems including

HALON and Sprinklers

and machineries

- HVAC systems (Air treatment units, AC plants, Cold rooms)

management and upkeep

- Planning of Refit, Repairs and related activities

- Prepare scope of work and establish RRC (rate repair

contracts)

- Prepare scope of work and establish AMC (Annual Maintenance

Contracts)

- Member of TNC (Tech Negotiation Committee) for hull &Safety

related procurements

- Responsible for calibration of safety equipments such as H2S

sensors, Life rafts etc.

- Responsible for sewage treatment according to MARPOL

compliance (EC and Bio)

- Ensure compliance of waste management systems with legal

requirement

- Responsible for safety precautions during hot works

- Operation of Small Arms such as 5.56 mm INSAS, 7.62 mm SLR 9mm

Pistol and carbine

- Responsible for training for Rocket fuel leakage and

emergencies like gas leakages
