With more than ten years of experience in local government, including five years as a supervisor of projects and people, I am well prepared to provide professional consulting services to WeBuild clients. My background includes experience in both private consulting and planning, and I have a keen understanding of planning principles and processes. Past employers and co-workers have consistently given me high marks for leadership, initiative and customer service, and I have a good sense of design, a friendly personality, and the ability to work well with others and coordinate teams.

As Planning Manager for the City of Hayward, CA, I supervised ten professional staff and managed both current and long-range planning functions. I used critical thinking and problem solving skills on a daily basis in coordinating the development review process and working with other City departments. I also facilitated regular meetings with property owners, developers, engineers, architects, attorneys, and citizens. As a manager, I monitored budgets and prepared performance reports, and I also prepared

and edited zoning research, CEQA analysis, staff reports and other technical studies for presentation to the Planning Commission, City Council, and the general public.

Prior to joining the City of Hayward, I was employed as a Principal Planner with the City of Henderson, Nevada, where I supervised long-range planning and special projects and managed the City's award-winning sustainability program. Under my leadership, the city’s Green Team initiated dozens of sustainability projects, including a single-stream recycling pilot program for more than 50,000 households, a baseline inventory of community-wide greenhouse gas emissions, and the addition of green development incentives to the city’s Development Code. I also supervised the preparation of a transit-oriented development strategy for the Boulder Highway and served as part of a combined planning/economic development team that prepared an updated investment strategy for downtown Henderson.

Prior to joining the City of Henderson, I worked as a Planner and Urban Designer for the City of North Las Vegas where I managed a major transit-oriented development planning effort for the North Fifth Street Corridor. I also chaired an internal working group that developed the City's first mixed-use ordinance and helped negotiate the development agreement for Park Highlands, a 2,400-acre master planned community. After leaving employment with the City, I was appointed by the Mayor to serve as a member of the North Las Vegas Planning Commission.
