Statement of Career Interests
My interests have developed greatly through the journey of my artistic training. I have
learned through my required courses in graphic design to develop my strengths and pay close
attention to my weaknesses in hopes of overcoming them. I have had a passion for art from
the very beginning and have been inclined to lean towards the field of graphic design because
of my interest in developing my artistic ability using technology as a medium. Throughout
my Fine Arts education, the courses that were the most appealing to me were sculpture and
drawings, and have fine tuned my level of skill especially in these two areas. I believe that I
am in my most creative state when I am dealing with graphic design and thus, decided to
focus on this primarily. I believe that art evolves, and I have learned that my ideas evolve
through my artwork and are completely different from the beginning of my piece, and at the
end. I also believe as artist you should explore every medium to assess and move past your
weaknesses. For example, I had trouble using ink, but later on, I began to like this medium. I
also struggled with Adobe Photoshop when I took Digital Imaging. Photoshop is an integral
tool for a developing artist. Initially, the program seemed a bit confusing. After learning what
each symbol represents and what its function was, Photoshop is a program I have used
continuously for many tasks, especially photo editing. I would like to conclude with my
favorite part of graphic design. I particularly enjoy creating logos. What I like about creating
logos, is that I enjoy generating a design that defines a company. Logos embody
the name and message of a company as well as its purpose, just as my own artistic endeavors
define me. I truly believe that this internship will challenge me and further my growth as an
artist, and encourage me to surpass my weaknesses, being critical of my development
.
