Daily job function is to manage the outbound flow of up to 2.7 million pieces per week off peak and 4.4 million pieces per week during peak, manage the ship dock that consists of 31 dock doors and a team of up to 30 people in 3 different ship dock functions. Monitor the pick dept and the areas they are picking to ensure the dock is staffed properly this also includes transship and the flat sorter. Maintain contact with the pack dept to make sure that all packages needing to be shipped are going to make it to the dock. Manage various contract carriers that include UPS, FEDEX and the US Postal Service and manage the Transshipment of various products to other Amazon FC’s. Maintain an outbound load board, as well as any dock issues ie late truck canceled loads or equipment malfunctions maintain contact with truck gate and yard drivers. Fill in for the Area Manger when he/she is not available. Work with ICQA (Inventory Control Quality Assurance) and help with “simple bin counting” counting all the items in a bin or a pallet, as well as “cycle counting” scanning all items in a bin or a pallet to ensure that all of these items are accurately in the computer warehouse system. Train new Area Managers or OPS Managers on how to effectively run a ship dock.

Daily job included training employees in picking product (Library and Order picking) the Library is floor picking, pushing a cart with a hand held RF scanner picking product from the shelves, Order picking is using a Crown SP Order picker (PIT) and drive through the racks again using a hand held RF scanner picking product from the racks then. Packing product by using a scanner to scan the product and place it in the box designed for that product, train and cross train PIT drivers (Power Industrial Trucks, Crown lifts SP order picker, RC standup forklift, RR standup reach forklift, Clamp standup, PC standup double pallet lift, Tugger and Scissor Lift then monitor the performance of the new trainees. Work on 2 separate docks one dock is Team and Mech dock that is anything over 50lbs requires a team lift and anything over 100lbs requires mech lift the other dock is the ship dock where the product comes down the line into trailers waiting to be loaded these are loaded by hand, TDR (trailer dock and release) go outside to check that all trailers a safely and properly docked in the doors and when time go and release the trailer to certain trucking companies make sure the trailer is sealed and all paperwork is signed so the driver can exit Amazon. Back up Ship Clerk for both docks with 22 dock doors.
