UIK MRAP M-ATV Mechanic: Installed upgraded armor using Oshkosh’s 6 Sigma Lean Manufacturing Production Processes.
• Team 1: Modified and upgraded armor on over 1300 MRAP M-ATVs. Applied cross functional mechanical and assembly skills that included, power trains and air systems upgrades; armor, prop shafts, airlines, air tanks, and dryer assembly tear downs and installations.
• Team 2: Modified Kevlar, metal tabs, hood fenders; re-routed AFES wire harnesses; prepared cross members for the installation of lateral rods; primed all metal areas where modifications were needed.
• Team 3: Used Hougen MagDrill and engineer designed templates for layouts; drilled and integrated bracket sides, frame rails, exhaust mounting brackets, z-panels, cut and ground cab Kevlar, drilled lateral rod holes, and safely raised cab for mount clearance.
• Team 4: Performed frame reinforcement upgrades, installed front and rear hull mount brackets and cab mounts, installed transfer cases, AFES mount brackets, isolator, and spacer shims on all mounts, and installed dryers to air compressor copper lines.
• Team 5: Replaced seats and performed interior upgrades, re-routed circuit lines, mounting brackets, and MPU cables on CROWS systems; modified front and rear Skydex floor mats, installed Heed Bottle mounting brackets; installed MK44 Slave Connectors and mounting brackets; installed crew seats and completed all installations in accordance with torque specifications.
• Team 6: Installed new suspension systems, wheels, and tire upgrades and removed old components.
