Surety completing a project
that had went back to the bonding company. I took the
job and started overseeing my Completion Subcontractor
Cox and Cox. The job included deep Sewer, Joint Utility
and Water. I attended owners meetings with J.F. Shea
and
City of Redding, I organized
work with multiple crews, I represented Surety to make
sure monies were spent in the most efficient areas; I
gave written authorizations for Extra Work and approved
pay estimates. My job was more on the line of an
Inspector making sure Completion Sub worked at top
efficiency and as a buffer between
J.F. Shea and Surety. My top
goal was to make sure that the limited amount of money
provided by the bonding company was spent correctly and
keeping Completion Sub on the Critical Path for
scheduling. This experience of working on the opposite
side of construction helped me understand the importance
of the Schedule and watching costs more closely.

work available and quality of work. The Dos Lagos
project included over 15mi. of pipe, plus all
appertence. At some times I had three mainline crews

Foreman: Heavy plans, specifications, estimating and paperwork.
Operator: All equipment related to pipeline construction.
While working for my brother I ran entire jobs. Worked closely with
districts, engineers and other related agencies. Handled
all paperwork including daily reports, foremen reports,
change orders, extra work reports, OSHA, and soil
classification reports. The experience with paperwork I
gained opened many doors and gave me new opportunities
to make the company money in ways other than just job
production, while still pushing 10 - 12 man crews.
Quality of work and cleanliness of job sites was a major
point with keeping agencies happy and created extra work
that was given to us by districts that were confident
with our work.
