Evaluated previous reports for Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) in a 25-building complex for Boeing

Project Consultant, H&S Program Development, The Coen Company, Woodland, CA, $50K (2007) Evaluated
regulations and developed and implemented Cal/OSHA health and safety compliance programs for an industrial
gas burner manufacturer over a two month period.
Project Manager, NRG El Segundo Generation Station, $485K (2006 – 2007) Provided design specifications
and oversight services for asbestos/lead abatement and demolition of Steam Generating Units 1 and 2 at NRG’s
power generating facility in El Segundo California. The work involved daily industrial hygiene community
monitoring for asbestos, lead and noise during normal plant operations, as well as abatement and demolition
activities. Shaw’s project was successfully completed within a10 week schedule and under budget.
Project Manager, H&S Consulting Services, The Boeing Company, Long Beach, CA, $50K (2006) Provided
industrial hygiene consulting services for C-17 production operations in Long Beach, CA. Performed ventilation
surveys, noise exposure assessments and IH surveys. Evaluated confined space regulations and advised
Boeing on procedures to modify confined space entry procedures in a union environment.

Safety Manager, Chromium Plating Factory Demolition, Gardena, CA, $30K (2003 – 2004)
Provided health and safety support services for the demolition of a chrome-plating facility located in a residential
neighborhood and adjacent to an elementary school. Evaluated client needs and developed the site HASP. The
project was conducted under the guidance of the State of California Dept. of Toxic Substances Control Comm.
Project Manager, Cal/OSHA Compliance Lockout/Tagout, Gardena, CA, $10K (2003)
Instrumental in reducing Cal/OSHA citations regarding control of hazardous energy (lockout/tagout) for a major
food manufacturer. Provided support to the facility in the development and implementation of a lockout/tagout
program and trained personnel.
Sewage Spill Clean-up, City of Pomona, $36K (1999 – 2000)
Provided guidance and project management to resolve a dispute over a sewage release on residential property.
Modified a clean-up order and completed soil sampling activities that demonstrated previously impacted soils
adjacent to the residence had been properly remediated.

Industrial Hygienist
Provided consulting services to NASA at Dryden Flight Research Center regarding confined space, respiratory
protection, lead, hydrazine and cryogenics awareness; HAZWOPER training; IAQ, drinking water and ventilation
assessments and employee exposure evaluations. Assisted the environmental department regarding
groundwater contamination (NDMA and TCE) under the day care center.
SW OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSULTANTS -- CHICAGO, IL 08/1993 - 08/1998
Principle
Developed over 35 health, safety and environmental management programs for the distribution facilities of a
major food manufacturer and trained and assisted health and safety personnel in implementing each program
over a three-year period. Also developed a HSE management planning system to annually audit and maintain
these programs. Developed lockout/tagout, machine guarding, hazard communication, blood borne pathogens,
and job hazard analysis programs for an orange juice manufacturer.
THE QUAKER OATS COMPANY -- CHICAGO, IL 06/1990 - 07/1993
Industrial Hygiene Supervisor
Conducted over 40 industrial hygiene evaluations of employee exposures to various chemical and physical
agents. Provided assistance and support for workshops and training on hazard communication, respiratory
protection, ergonomics, laboratory safety and environmental management. Assisted the Environmental Services
Department in the management of underground storage tanks for over 15 facilities nationwide, storm water
discharge management, and Tier I and II and Form R submission requirements for 35 plants. Addressed
employee exposure issues to carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and grain dust exposures at the LiquidDri
operations in Louisville, KY. Implemented exposure control measures to reduce exposures to within regulatory
limits. Monitored conditions over three one week periods over the course of one year until controls were
implemented. Provided support for management of health and safety related issues to the use of L-tryptophan,
an amino acid used in the manufacture of dog food which had been contaminated during manufacture and
temporarily prohibited by the Food and Drug Administration for personal use.

Conducted field evaluations for over 30 buildings nationwide on behalf of a major asbestos manufacturer in
