February 2013 Marshalling At Nottingham Crown Court

I spent 3 days Marshalling His Honour Judge Milmo QC at Nottingham Crown Court

observing sentencings and various plea and case management hearings.

September 2012 No.6 Park Square Chambers

Attended pre trial - conferences, sentencing's and plea and case management

hearings at Leeds and Bradford Crown Court.

Dec 2011 N0.6 Park Square Chambers

My third mini-pupillage was conducted at 6 Park Square Chambers in December 2011,

during which I observed a sentencing for a very serious Grievous Bodily Harm and

several other hearings with regards to criminal matters such as fraud and drugs.

July 2011 St Pauls Chambers

I experienced a Mini-Pupillage where I attended Leeds Crown Court and observed a

short trial on grievous bodily harm. I also sat and watched a variety of

hearings. Through this Mini-Pupillage my knowledge in the area of Criminal Law

was further enhanced and I learnt a great deal also through liaising with several

other barristers.

July 2011 N0.37 Park Square Chambers

I attended Manchester Crown Court for a rape trial during my Mini-Pupillage. I

made key notes whilst observing the trial and also during cross - examination of

the witnesses. I also sat in on a conference meeting in respect of a Civil matter

which helped build up my knowledge and understanding in this area.

Jan 2011 Khan Solicitors

Four week work experience placement at the Criminal law firm in which I attended

Bradford Crown Court and Grimsby Crown Court sitting in and observing a number of

trials and hearings. I also listened to a variety of witness tapes making key

notes.

July 2010 Riaz Solicitors

I conducted a four- week work experience placement attending the Leeds Crown and

Magistrate's Courts on several occasions along with the Bradford Tribunal and

Crown Courts also. At the Bradford Crown Court I attended a high profile Murder

Trial with one of the solicitors. On one of the days a great deal of

responsibility was placed upon me as I attended the trial without the supervision

of another solicitor. I acted on behalf of the firm with my responsibility being

to make key notes during the witness interviews which I had to report back to the

senior solicitor.

August 2010- present Visiting the Crown Court

Attending various cases in the Leeds, Bradford and Nottingham Crown Court,

sitting and observing from the public gallery on how a trial runs, the way they

are conducted and paying specific attention to the conduct and manner of the

Barristers.

July 2006 Khan Solicitors - School work experience

Two-week work placement where I attended court on several occasions as well as

conducting general office duties such as photocopying witness statements and

filing a variety of cases

POSITIONS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Acting on behalf of Riaz Solicitors in a significant Murder trial at Bradford

Crown Court where I was trusted with the case files and documents but more

specifically to make notes during the witness interviews which took place. Once

these notes were written up I had the responsibility of making sure they were

given to a senior member of the firm.

INNS OF COURT

I am currently a student member of The Honourable Society of Lincolns Inn and

have been since December 2011. I have at present completed eleven qualifying

sessions.

GENERAL WORK EXPERIENCE

July 2012 - September 2012

Total Cover Call centre - I worked as a full time customer service assistant

where my role was to build up rapport and engage with customers in order to sell

home insurance packages and deal with customer complaints. I used my prior

knowledge of the insurance package and my excellent persuasive skills in order to

effectively sell to the customers. I achieved a high number of sales whilst at

total cover due to my sheer hard work, strong communication skills and

professional manner over the phone.

November 2008 - February 2009

Sports Direct Ltd - part-time sales assistant where I took on a variety of tasks

from aiding customers on the shop floor, stock control duties and being given the

responsibility of working behind the tills, collecting the money taken in from

the working- day, counting it and reporting back to the manager.

July - September 2007

Clear answer Call Centre - Full- time customer service assistant liaising and

building up rapport with customers over the phone in order to sell broadband and

television packages and deal with unhappy customers who had queries and

complaints. In this job I demonstrated excellent listening and communication

skills and developed a high teamwork ethic. As this was a full- time post I was

only able to achieve a limited amount of sales before I returned to 6th Form the

following September.

INTERESTS AND ACTIVITES

Mooting - I am very keen on debating and have taken part in the University

Mooting competitions several times.

Gym - I like to keep fit and healthy and attend the gym

Law Society - I have been a member of the Law Society since the start of my first

year at university and I am an active member organising events and activities

I enjoy playing football, advocating and meeting new people.

SKILLS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Good command of French, Urdu and Punjabi; can read Arabic fluently. I am also

currently learning to speak Arabic.

Familiarity with Windows packages including MS Word, MS Access and Internet

Explorer,

Won a Cricket Medal during the 2005/2006 U 15's season at Pudsey Congs Cricket
