technical and integration support for a U.S. Army joint remediation project at Red Stone Arsenal, Alabama
and support of mobile destruction systems test and operations.
Directed team of professionals supporting chemical agent mobile destruction systems and explosive
ordnance disposal through more than $9MM of task orders. Provided technical expertise and integration
support from design through field operations including developing all testing, safety, environmental,
operational, training, and logistical documentation; installing and maintaining computer, video, and
communications equipment; collecting and evaluating operating and test data; reviewing technical design
packages; and supervising destruction of conventional munitions and auditing field sweeps at
remediation sites. Directed multi-discipline engineering team for an accelerated 35% design, on schedule
and budget, of a $25MM plant to destroy chemical weapons.
Received commendation for leading a team that developed the life-cycle-cost-estimate and program
objective memorandum for two multi-billion dollar programs in half of the projected time.
Lead Systems Engineer for a +$15MM engineering manufacturing and development program to provide
various active and passive chemical and biological shelters for the Joint Program Office for Chemical
and Biological Defense with potential manufacturing options valued in excess of $900MM.
Led process safety management-compliant HAZOPs for commercial oil refinery and for government-
owned, contractor-operated chemical weapons destruction facility. Conducted OSHA compliance audits
at commercial facilities. Provided environmental and safety oversight of contractor operations in
government-owned chemical weapons demilitarization facility.
Responsible for developing technical volume of winning proposals for a +$15MM with +$100M options
contract and a +$400MM indefinite-delivery-indefinite-quantity cost-plus contract.
CONVERGENT PRIMA, Sturbridge Massachusetts 04/98 - 01/01
Production solutions provider and full-line manufacturer/marketer of high-powered, industrial lasers and
laser systems for a wide variety of applications in automotive, aircraft and aerospace, electronics, and
metal fabrication industries with annual sales of over $20MM.
Vice President of Operations
Recruited to manage operations with $3.8MM budget for manufacturing facilities, stockrooms, information
systems, health, safety, and purchasing groups. Supervised 5 direct and 44 indirect reports.
Spearheaded $2MM project for first prototype/production unit of new major product line for international
client. Directed engineering development and manufacturing teams. Led negotiations with international
customer and international subcontractor. Met tight schedule and completed project on time and within
budget.
Led ISO 9000 implementation team and authored QA Program Manual.
Implemented Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application for sales/purchase orders, manufacturing
control, and financial reporting. Developed Visual Basic/Excel macros to link service parts and purchase
orders to ERP system, maximizing cash return from service orders and accelerating product delivery.
Captured $1.8MM in annual cost savings through facilities consolidation. Merged manufacturing,
engineering design, industrial applications laboratory, customer service, marketing, and sales functions
into single location. Achieved move and plant closing, from design to completion, in 14 weeks, without
interrupting applications projects, production, or R&D.

POLAROID CORPORATION, Cambridge Massachusetts 03/79 - 03/98
Manufacturer of photography products for consumer and commercial use with $2 billion in annual sales.
Chemical Operations Division produced chemicals used in fabrication of photographic products, including
polymers, metallic and non-metallic dyes, pigments, and various solvent-based solutions.
As production manager, coordinated operations, chemical processing, and fluid delivery in 5x24 facility for
continuous delivery of over 20 photographic products valued at more than $20MM annually. Oversaw +$2MM
operating budget, 3 supervisors, and 24 technicians. Reduced staffing costs by almost 20% through detailed
analysis of equipment condition/maintenance needs and related personnel requirements. Implemented
restructure of department from functionally managed group to process-centered team. Coached supervisors
and technicians to identify processes, prepare operating procedures, and assign responsibilities.
Eliminated annual material losses through improved documentation and procedures to more efficiently
control coating machine settings and fluid flow. Lowered costs for tank cleaning chemicals and filter
media by $90,000 per year; identified new vendors and safer, more effective chemicals.
Redesigned fluid delivery systems and developed new startup procedures resulting in a $1.2MM annual
savings.
As product manager, supported chemical process and thin film coating operations to plan and execute coating
runs of film negatives for 30 commercial products. Developed automated process to analyze thousands of
data points from hundreds of samples and statistically group analytically similar material. Routinely used
design of experiments (DOE) to plan test coater runs for predicting affects of raw material lots on production
runs. Implemented statistically based program to predict affects of production film-coating raw materials
changes, which reduced the number of coating adjustments within the run and ultimately the variability of the
final product.
Production and Design Engineer for polymer and dye manufacturing facility, including reactors,
storage/dispensing vessels, fluid delivery systems, filtration equipment, and utilities. Led multidiscipline team
of engineers, designers, and maintenance personnel providing full-service support, including problem solving,
equipment design, specifications, selection, installation, modification, systemization, and maintenance. Project
manager and design engineer (process and mechanical systems) on multi-million dollar projects. Negotiated
contracts with mechanical, structural, electrical, and IT contractors, engineering firms, environmental
consultants, laboratories, and chemical suppliers. Completed process hazard analyses (PHAs) and led
hazard and operability studies (HAZOPs). Developed and executed Process Safety Management (PSM)
program for the chemical division. Corporate Chief Auditor for PSM compliance. Developed and taught
courses on leading HAZOPs. Supervised 24x7 wastewater and water treatment facilities; provided
environmental engineering expertise; authored spill control plans; certified spill prevention, control, and
countermeasure (SPCC) plans; and ensured federal/state regulatory compliance for wastewater and air
permits. Guided software development, hardware selection, and systems integration/maintenance for process
control computers at film manufacturing facility. Supervised process control engineers and software
