BFN Manager Turbine Tasks

Technical contract manager for all turbine generator maintenance. Executed outages under budget while improving unit performance and maintaining an excellent safety record.

TVA Widows Creek, Stevenson, AL 2004 - 2008

Resolved long standing chronic issues with BFPT control system. Project managed installation of 84” circulating water butterfly valves, installation of automatic raw water strainers, design, purchase and installation of BFP recirc valves. Supported operations and maintenance to improve unit efficiency and increase output.

GENERAL ELECTRIC Power Systems, Greenville, SC & Schenectady, NY 1998 - 2003

Sr. Project Manager

Manage overall power generation programs involving design, construction, operations, performance, safety and regulatory requirements for power generation equipment for plants in US, Europe and Asia.

• Managed the technical integration of steam turbine, gas turbine, generator and auxiliary equipment into the customer’s power plant.

• Acted as a customer advocate by providing value added solutions. Awarded Customer HERO award and numerous power awards. Project managed the design, manufacture and installation of both steam turbines and gas turbines in combined cycle and simple cycle power plants. Also project managed the design, manufacture and installation of GE industrial steam turbines and mechanical drive steam turbines. Successfully functioned in a matrix team environment while responding to customer questions regarding, performance, safety procedures and processes to meet construction and startup schedules.

WESTINGHOUSE Power Generation, Charlotte, NC 1990 - 1998

Sr. Product Engineer

Project managed co-manufacture and co-design effort for 350 and 600 MW steam turbine equipment with Shanghai and Harbin Turbine Companies. Provided technical supervision, directed project teams while controlling quality, costs and schedule.

• Project managed the supply of two LP steam turbines for the 1875 MW UK Teesside combined cycle plant.

• Received the George Westinghouse Signature of Excellence Award for directing manufacturing and engineering efforts in Japan, Spain, China, United States and England.

• Team Leader for the Integration Team responsible for coordination of all marketing, projects, design and manufacturing teams. Tracked and analyzed project budgets for management reports.

• Project managed the design and manufacture of the Single Case Steam Turbines for use in combined cycle plants. The design incorporated the use of concurrent engineering teams and the first time introduction of metric dimensions into a Westinghouse North American factory.

• Performed technical inspection of customer turbines and developed repair specifications as required to meet outage schedules.

E. I. DUPONT DE NEMOURS AND CO, Aiken, SC

Senior Project Engineer for the $63-million RCRA-class incineration facility.

Ensured the operability and maintainability of the facility by review of equipment specifications, piping and instrument drawings, and general arrangement drawings for technical adequacy.

• Maintained the project budget and approved the Lump Sum Bid Construction package while controlling the overall project schedule and cost.

• Reviewed the burner interlocking control system and the other plant operating systems interface with the DCS.

PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY OF COLORADO, Denver, CO

(FORT ST. VRAIN NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION)

Engineer / Supervisor of Technical Writing

Directed all aspects of the maintenance and repair of plant equipment including diesel generators, boilers, pumps, turbines, compressors and motors to ensure efficient performance and control maintenance costs. Managed various projects including coordination of other departments, supervision of contract and support personnel, maintenance of time schedules and budgets.

• Directed the machine shop to modify spare parts already in stock; repaired the plant’s large circulating water pumps at 60% of the OEM quoted repair cost. Worked extensively with the machine shop for the fabrication of equipment replacement parts. Supervised the boiler feed-pump seal and bearing replacement and repair.

• Oversaw $1 million project in the development of the plant's policies and procedures, supervising nine-on-site contract technical writers.

• Continually optimized work activities through effective planning and scheduling of maintenance activities. Appointed Project Manager for the plant's fourth refueling outage.

• Member Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP) team. Interfaced with resident NRC inspectors for maintenance activities and operation of the plant's Emergency Diesel Generator systems.

• Emergency diesel generator expert. Supervised the design, procurement and installation of a new governor control system.

WISCONSIN ELECTRIC POWER COMPANY

Engineer III

Reported all emission and effluent monitoring from all plants on the Wisconsin Electric System. Interfaced with State and Federal Regulatory agencies for reporting discharges. Conducted the performance testing and maintenance inspections and repair scheduling for the turbines and boilers on the Wisconsin Electric System.

• Directed the performance acceptance testing of a $35 million combustion turbine power plant consisting of eight Pratt-Whitney FT-4 jet engines.

• Reviewed P&I diagrams, developed the procedures, and conducted the initial performance tests for the 600 MW Pleasant Prairie Power Plant. Ensured the turbines’ maximum LP exhaust flow was not exceeded when the plant's boiler reheat attemperator flow was drastically increased.

• Performed capacity tests on steam turbine and gas turbine fleet.

• Reviewed life extension studies for turbines, boilers, steam generators and heat exchangers.

AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER SERVICE CORPORATION

Associate Engineer

Conducted the annual and biannual coal storage aerial survey inventories covering a five-state area. Supervised twelve summer employees in the performance testing of 800 MW double reheat turbines.

• Participated in the performance testing of a 1300 MW single reheat, supercritical unit.

• Directed the installation of sulfur dioxide emission monitors at the company's plant in W. VA.
