Emergency Room Nurse
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Does in-depth ongoing assessment and care of critically ill patients.
2.Collects and interprets diverse clinical data including vital signs and lab results.
3.Ensures total safety and best possible care to the patients.
4.Provides Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
5.Skillfully coordinates with doctors for efficient patient management and delivery of optimal treatment plan.
6.Reassure patients and relatives by working in a confident and efficient manner.
7.Performs triage.
8.Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly and through IV) and records prescribed medications.
9.Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical and trauma equipment to care for patients.
10.Treat pediatric, surgical, medical emergencies and traumatic injuries.
Operating Room Nurse
Acts as a scrub nurse:
Performs scrubbing in the required and accepted technique.
Wear gown and gloves using proper technique.
Drapes mayo table correctly.
Arranges instruments on mayo table.
Assist in draping the patient.
Brings mayo stand into position over patient.
Keep operative field neat, clean and dry.
Counts instruments, needless and sponge with circulating nurse (before the start of the operation, closure of wound and at the end of the operation).
Maintains strict sterile technique throughout the procedure.
Assist in preparing, cleaning and arranging room for the next case. Packs instrument, linens and supplies according to standard procedure.
Acts as a circulating nurse:
Sees to it the room is tidy and ready to use.
Prepares OR table and attachments and other equipment needed.
Receive and identify patient correctly.
Monitors vital signs before, during and after operation.
Assist / prepare the table before the operation.
Ties gowns, unwrap sterile packages observing aseptic technique.
Assist / perform skin preparation of patient.
Maintains strict sterile technique throughout the procedure.
Anticipate / provide the needs of surgical team.
Counts sponges with scrub nurse, checks and records it before operation before closure of wound and at the end of the operation.
Provides safety and comfort to patient post operatively. Helps in transport of patient, re-arranges and prepares room for the next case.
Others
Assists anesthesiologist during induction of anesthesia.
Guide quality assistance to surgeons during the operation.
Observe proper identification, and care of the specimen taken from patient.
Attend to hospital meetings and seminar designed to increase knowledge and expertise.
