To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to you today to apply for your position of Development Communications Assistant.

I have immense interest in your organization and its mission. I have a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Brigham Young University-Idaho. During my time I took journalism and communication classes along with foreign policy, US Government, National Security and Terrorism, South East Asian studies, Chinese History and Culture and other relevant courses, like communication, religious freedom psychology, cultural paradigms, etc. In addition, during my time at university I tested out of 12 Korean credits by taking the Korean FLATS test.

From 2013-2015 I served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I lived in Seoul, South Korea and learned Korean fluently. This experience sparked my vast interest in Asia, including East and South east Asia. I also studied abroad for 6 months in Jerusalem where I was immersed in the culture while taking classes on Jewish history and culture in Palestine and other classes like Arabic and Hebrew.

For the past 18 months I have worked my way up from a reporter to the Editor in Chief of my school’s daily publication. This has taught me great organization skills, persuasive writing techniques, like AP style, and has allowed me great experience in an office setting with tight deadlines. I know that with this experience and my desire to learn and work hard I will be a great fit.

I firmly believe that I am a great candidate for this position and that it will help my growth in my career. I am available for this position as soon as possible and can work any days of the week.

Thank you for your time and for considering me for the position.

Sincerely,

Christian Anderson
