Mar 2017 – Apr 2018 Store Manager, Calvert Retail Asheville, NC I was the general manager for Kitchen & Company in Asheville, NC. Kitchen & Company is a 20,000 square foot retail store focused on cooking, dining and entertaining. Continuing my passion for food and team work, I managed a staff of 15 associates in this retail environment that chefs and culinary enthusiasts love. Management of people, scheduling, product flow, placement, organization, shipping, receiving, and retail sales were some of my responsibilities as the GM. In this position I learned how the whole operation works together, with back of the house (shipping and receiving) works to support the front of the house (retail sales floor). Coordinating all of the elements of the retail operation is what I am most proud of in this position, putting all of the pieces together to make it run as a unit. I also learned a lot about people. Recruiting, hiring and management of associates was a huge part of this position, and I was able to staff the store from cashier, to receivers, customer service associates, and also developed my own management team. Developing my own winning team is another proud accomplishment. Leaving the store I was happy to know that I was leaving it in better shape than when I took it over 1 year prior. In addition to working in the Asheville store, during this year I was asked to help in other stores in the company with receiving, store set up, and inventory. I helped in our new Mt Pleasant, SC store with receiving, trained new associates how to receive and I also helped with the initial store setup. I was also sent to our Flagship Chapel Hill, NC store to help with the physical inventory count. Nov 2014 – Mar 2017 Web Store Associate/Manager, Calvert Retail Asheville, NC I started my career with Calvert Retail as a part time associate on the web store fulfillment team. I was 1 of 3 associates who would process, pick, pack and ship all orders placed on kitchenandcompany.com. Customer service was the focus as I would communicate with guests through email or by phone to trouble shoot or answer any questions guests may have about their order, Kitchen & Company, or any other customer service needs. During this time of employment with Calvert Retail, I was also tasked with receiving of products into the retail store in addition to my responsibilities as web store associate. I learned how to receive, schedule freight trucks, load and unload trucks, check product in, and also how to process vendor charge backs for damaged or wrong merchandise. It was also during this time I learned how to work on the sales floor, how the front end registers worked and the procedures for opening and closing the store. I learned a lot of valuable things my first 3 years of working at this store, and I am very happy I was able to put what was learned to use in my next 2 positions with Calvert Retail.
