Gezira State – Sudan (from 2010 up to date)

Rufaa Teaching Hospital is one of the biggest hospitals in Gezira State. It’s the Central Hospital of East Gezira. The hospital provides Health services in all branches of medicine for Rufaa City and all villages of East Gezira, responsible for training of medical students of faculty of Medicine- Al Butana University, and post graduate training of registrars preparing for the Sudan Clinical M.D. in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and other specialties.

The Obstetrics & Gynaecology department provides antenatal delivery, post natal, family planning and Ggynaecology surfaces including Ultra sound unit. The theatre runs two Obstetrics and Gynaecology lists concurrently in two operating rooms. Rufaa Hospital is referral center for cases of obstetrics & Gynaecology from all Rural Hospitals and small cities of East Gezira.

i. Labour ward:

Confident with Labour ward management, enjoys working as part of the team.

Performs Instrumental Delivery by Forceps or Vacum extraction, twin delivery and assisted breach delivery with confidence.

Other labour ward emergencies such as Caesarean Sections, management of pre – and post-partum haemorrage, preterm labours, eclampsia, shoulder dystocia, cord prolapse and perineal suturing of episiotomy, second, third, and fourth degree tears all performed with confidence.

Encourage normal vaginal delivery avoiding intervention unless necessary.

ii. Family Planning

Good experience in family planning clinics, patient counseling about family planning methods.

Performs insertion of intrauterine contraceptive devices. Perform bilateral tubal ligation.
