2012 - 2019 (OVER 7 YEARS) • MUSCLE UP MARKETING • Design Director National marketing company specializing in direct mail advertising & social media for fitness clubs. Along with the founder & owner, as one of his very first hires, we quickly grew his company into one of the largest and fastest growing in the industry. Developed a new design team that helped business owners in the wellness service industry maximize their marketing effectiveness through innovative campaigns using Direct Mail, Social Media Management, Targeted Display Ads, Email Marketing, Mobile Geo-Targeting, Guest Passes, Take Ones, Door Hangers, Business Cards, Promo Items, Call Tracking, Text Message Marketing, Brand Development. Created and designed brochures and educational materials for doctors and clinicians. Lead the creative briefs and helped establish print vendors and photo sources. Worked closely with the technical writing and editing team of contributing doctors and pharmaceutical reps on the development and proper branding of speaker seminars within the pharmaceutical industry. Managed a group of designers and reported directly to the Creative Director.
2003 - 2004 (OVER 1 YEAR) • CREATIVE GAMES INTERNATIONAL • Creative Director Major manufacturer of complex computer imaged scratch-off gaming products for State and International lottery jurisdictions. Created comprehensive marketing and design on hundreds of lottery gaming tickets from initial concept and graphic design through pre-press, programming and production. Managed the daily work flow and creative direction for numerous designs and illustrations.

Directed the publishing efforts of the mass-market book distributor. Art directed, designed & illustrated numerous hardcover & paperback books including covers & complex illustrated interiors. 1981 - 1989 (OVER 8 YEARS) • BEKA BOOK PUBLICATIONS • College Professor & Illustrator Publishing company producing textbooks. Directed the activities of full-time artists and college students. Worked as designer, illustrator and photographer for numerous items ranging from print ads to 500-page illustrated textbooks. Also worked as an Art Professor at the liberal arts college campus. Served as advisor for over 350 art students. As instructor, taught undergraduate drawing, painting, and graphic design classes. SINCE MICHAEL’S EARLY YEARS, HE EXPRESSED KEEN INTEREST & ABILITY IN THE VISUAL ARTS. THIS PASSIONATE QUEST HAS PROVIDED A SUCCESSFUL, VARIED CAREER WITHIN THE INDUSTRY.
Earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Art, he worked full-time with the nation’s largest textbook publisher where he was responsible for illustrating & designing complex biology & science curriculums. His early work experiences included direct exposure & unique training within the graphic arts during the major shift to computerized desktop design in the mid-1980s. As a college professor teaching design, drawing & painting classes, Michael studied for his Master’s Degree in Fine Art at Syracuse University. Employed in fashion retail, he worked in the clothing industry as an Art Director for five years. There he designed & photo-directed numerous retail catalogs & direct mail pieces.
For the next five years, he served as Creative Director for a major children’s book publishing company. There he was responsible for the design & illustration of hundreds of mass-market children’s books & educational products along with related marketing materials. For almost two decades, Michael has created hundreds of illustrated, complex scratch-off gaming products for State & International lottery jurisdictions including the comprehensive marketing & design—from initial concept through layered pre-press & production. With a concentrated focus on agency work, he specialized in direct mail for Fortune 500 clients & designed & photo-directed full-color trade ads, dimensional mail, brochures, website graphics, posters & sales collateral for direct mail, incentive programs & POP displays. One of his longest, full-time positions was designing national direct mail advertising for gyms & fitness clubs for an Atlanta-based agency. He also worked with a creative team that specialized in pharmaceutical advertising, designing educational materials for doctors & clinician events. Altogether, Michael brings over 38 years of experience in print-ready desktop design with high levels of proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign while having seasoned skills in multimedia, painting, drawing, photography and design.
