Employed by M/s China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Middle East) (LLc), Dubai as Technical Manager for the construction of Expo 2020 Package 2 contract in Dubai. The project is the improvement of road infrastructure as part of Expo 2020 developments in Dubai, UAE comprising of 2 interchanges on main highway, along with 7 kms. of road works (including new roads and widening of existing 6 lane main highway) and associated service works. Project duration is for 30 months and valued around $US 200 million. As of date, the project is ahead of schedule and expected to complete ahead of schedule. I managed the following technical works all the way from planning to production to submittal and obtaining approval / NOC as required from consultant and various authorities.

Shop drawings for all structural works like piling, pile caps, piers, bridges (20 nos.), vehicular culverts (2 nos.), bearings, expansion joints and etc.

Shop drawings for all underground services like water with scada, storm water, irrigation, telecommunication lines, street lighting, Radar cameras, ITS network and etc. While preparing the drawings Civil 3D software was used.

Shop drawings for earthwork cross sections for roads, permanent sign gantries, small and regulatory signs, warning signs, road markings, road furniture’s like crash cushion, road barrier and guard rails.

Design of permanent works (like post tensioning, MSE walls, thrust blocks for services and etc.).

Design of permanent protection works to existing gas lines of Dusup and Dolphin.

Design for microtunneling (below existing highway) and HDD below other crossing services.

Design for temporary works (like service protections, scaffolding for bridges).

Designed temporary road traffic diversions on existing highway containing 6 lanes for construction of interchange over it and supervised implementation on site.

Raised technical queries for the discrepancies and was involved in the resolution for the same with design / supervision consultants.

Re profiling of roads over bridges due to post tensioning effect and realignment of roads due to clashing with existing underground services

Method statement, risk assessment and lifting plan by guiding project QHSE and Construction departments.

Managed testing and commissioning works by guiding the sub-contractors involved in underground services for scada works.

Managed Handing over of constructed telecommunication lines to authorities.

Review and issue of NOC’s to third parties for their work in our ROW

All technical works were managed in line with contract requirements and in proper coordination with project contracts and head office purchase team.

I managed the technical department with 2 technical Engineers, 8 draughtsman and 10 sub-contractor teams.

From October 2010 to January 2017.

Employed by Ashghal (Qatar’s Public Works Authority) as a Project Engineer for the design, procurement & construction of the Expressway Program. The Expressway Program is a world class program consisting of around 30 projects of major highways and infrastructure, of approximately 1,000 kilometres length and with 150 grade-separated interchanges. The program is valued approximately $US30 Billion.

I was a member of the Authorities Expressway Department team in review of the following and provide recommendation to the line manager.

Progress of design consultants.

Performance assessment of PMC staff

I was also client’s representative for the construction of a major highway project, comprising of multilevel interchange, underpass and 10 kilometres of highway Construction in urban area. Successfully coordinated with the stakeholders to ensure smooth progress of works. Managed the works of PMC, supervision consultant and construction contractor. I was managing a team of around 20 reporting staff from PMC, supervision consultant and construction contractor. The Project value was approximately $US1 Billion.

During above tenure, I was also involved in the contractual, commercial and financial management of all the other on-going projects (at least 7 projects at a time) of the Expressway Program like review of Bonds and Insurances, Site Instructions, Variations, Addendums and cash flow in line with the contract requirements, submitted by PMC, supervision consultant and construction contractor. Apart from above, I was the contract manager for administering PMC contract for the Expressway Program. I was managing a team of around 25 reporting commercial staff from both in house and PMC.

From February 2005 to September 2010

Employed by M/s Dutco Balfour Beatty LLc. - Dubai, a MNC as Sr. Project Engineer / Engineering Manager.

Construction of Interchange 5.5 on Sheikh Zayed Road for RTA, Dubai: 19 bridges including a major bridge across the marina canal. Value $US220 Million, successfully completed on time in 28 months.

Role: Technical Manager - Managed engineering design for construction of thrust blocks, sheet piling, post tensioning, temporary steel girders & trusses across highway for bridge construction. Liaising with Governmental Agencies & Consultants to obtain all technical sanctions & regulatory approval. Supervising, guiding and advising Site Engineers for construction of bridges & installation of underground services like Water, Storm Water Drainage, Sewerage, Seawater, Electrical Cables & Telecommunication works. Designed & implemented major traffic diversion schemes on highways during construction of interchanges. I was managing a team of 5 Site Engineers, 4 Structural Engineers and 14 Draughtsman in house staff.

The work done on this project was almost the same like what I have done now in my latest company

Role: Sr. Project Engineer – In charge of the construction of deep underground service culverts spanning approximately 3 kilometres and ten storey multi-level car park with hollow core roof post-tensioned slabs. Successfully completed on time in 19 months. I was managing a team of 2 Senior Engineers and 7 Site Engineers in house staff From June 1993 to January 2005

Worked in Oman for a number of construction companies, both MNC and local. Started my career in the Gulf working as a Site Engineer and was Project Manager in my last assignment.
