Clinical Laboratory Medical Technician
Performs routine procedures in all sections of the laboratory: Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microscopy, Blood Gas, Microbiology, and Serology.
Performs blood collection procedures using a variety of techniques.
Interact with patients.
Process orders through information system and label specimens.
Provide technical training to students.
Perform equipment maintenance.
Perform quality control and waived/non-waived patient testing with a variety of automated and non-automated methods on all shifts, most of the time without direct supervision with my shift working largely by myself.

Equipment:
oComputers, printers, copy machines, fax, telephones, calculators, laboratory machines such a sysmex hematology, coag and Dade Expand, Bactec, centrifuge ffp thawers, Blood Bank refrigerators, urine analyzers, i-stat machine for bloodgas.
Hematology:
oComplete blood count, automated procedure with the use of STKS Coulter, S880, T-890, malarial preparation, slide method, microscopic with the use of Giemsa-Wright stain of hematic staining machine. Special procedures such as ESR, Reticolocyte count, Coagulation profile with the use of Biomatic coagulometer.
Blood Bank:
oRoutine compatibility testing, blood grouping, Coomb’s test antibody screening and cold agglutinins with the use of diamed procedures. Cell paneling, Blood preparation separating them into components such as pack cell, fresh frozen plasma, platelet concentration.
Chemistry:
oAutomated routine chemical analysis of blood and other bodily fluids with the use of Synchron (cx9), Hitachi 705, Astra 8.
oDrug assay with the use of TDX machines and Myra and the latest Axsym from Abbott.
oOther special procedures such as osmolality with the use of osmometer and other special tests involving hormonal analysis.
o24 hour urine analysis with the use of spectrophotometer and CSF stat procedures.
oReagent preparation for daily use of machines and release results as they are needed.
