Summary of Qualifications

June 2011 to present—Continue to see patients in my private practice doing in-home counseling. I also seeing patients at Wiregrass Wellness, the psychiatric office of J. Christopher Strunk, M.D., Psychiatrist, in Dothan, Houston County, Alabama, until I moved to Rhode Island in February, 2019. As a Psychometrist, I do assessments of clients for the Department of Human Resources and with the local legal departments on an as needed basis.

June 2005 – June 2011 – Contracted with Prestige, Inc., of Louisiana to set up and be Program Director of Lifetime Health Service at a hospital in Geneva, AL. The first year was an Intensive Outpatient Program, a program providing counseling services on an outpatient basis for adult clients. In October of 2006, the construction of the geriatric inpatient facility was completed and the Senior Care Unit was opened at the hospital. The SCU is a geriatric psychiatric inpatient facility that provides acute care for mentally ill patients. I was Program Director of this unit until June 30, 2011.

1981-February, 2019 - summary

I retired as a counselor and psychometrist with Geneva City Schools In June of 2005. I had been in the school system for 25 years. I taught second grade and sixth grade science prior to going back to graduate school to obtain additional degrees. I earned a Master’s Degree in School Counseling, a Master’s Degree in School Psychometry and an Education Specialist Degree in School Counseling. I became a LPC in Alabama (1995 – license #1430) prior to my retirement from the school system. I am board certified through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). I made the decision to retire from the school system to secure my benefits. While an LPC in the school system, I did in-home counseling with foster children after school and on weekends for the Department of Human Resources for several Alabama counties. I continue to have a private practice where I do counseling focusing on adolescents and adults who are experiencing behavioral problems, depression, adjustment concerns and grief/loss issues at Wiregrass Wellness Center, Dr. Strunk. I enjoy working with dementia patients, especially those suffering from Alzheimer’s. I have developed two educational power points as educational tools to explain to family members what is happening to their loved one’s brain.

I am licensed in Rhode Island until July of 2020 (License #I) I am also qualified to supervise Associated Counselors to become Licensed Professional Counselors (Alabama License # 1430). I also have professional insurance with HPSO.

I was employed with Prestige Consulting, a management company providing services for the Senior Care Unit, an inpatient geriatric psychiatric unit until June 30, 2011. The contract to manage this unit was not renewed by the hospital.

I had a private practice where I counseled adolescents and adults at Wiregrass Wellness Center in Dothan with Dr. J. Chris Strunk, M.D., Psychiatrist. I occasionally contract with Alabama Department of Human Resources and do in-home counseling with foster children. I also do evaluations for the Geneva County Probate office on occasion.
