PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Mechanical Engineer HT Industrial Robots Inc. Richmond, BC May 2016 – May 2019 Company Overview: HT Industrial Robots serves customers within the North American and Asian markets, designing and manufacturing industrial automated tools, systems, and accessories, especially used for machining and welding on the aviation assembly line and pipe line construction site. Selected Accomplishments:

Lead the development and the production of a customized CNC for medium-sized aircraft’s landing-gear connectors. This customized CNC not only increases the interchangeability between the landing gear and corresponding connector but also halves the on-site assembling time for the landing gears.

Collaborated with a team to automate the bore welding gun design, enabling automatic calculations and reducing welding time by 75% in comparison to using a manual stand-alone device. Increased the machine’s reach from a diameter of 300 mm to 600 mm by modifying the robotic welding arms.

Introduced and implemented a Product Data Management (PDM) system, which streamlined the design process by enabling multiple personnel to work simultaneously on the same project file while introducing the version control function to protect the company’s database.

Generated substantial cost and time savings by modularizing current products with subassemblies, allowing the machine to be manufactured and assembled on numerous production lines.

Drafted and filed 12 patent applications, protecting the company’s unique designs and intellectual properties.

Composted and filled 3 SR&ED applications, reimbursing the spending on research through CRA and thus reducing the overall cost of the R&D process.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements Gathering: Identify customer requirements regarding functions, motors, power, and product lifespan for portable CNC equipment, and select corresponding tools and equipment.

Multi-disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems, to brainstorm design ideas, plan and execute project accordingly. VICTOR BAI 647-***-**** ac9tj8@r.postjobfree.com

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (CONTINUED)

Engineering Design: Utilize SolidWorks or AutoCAD to complete modeling and dimensioning for machining structures, while leveraging strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy. Review each other’s design work for manufacturability, and assembling difficulties, GD&T labeling.

Product Testing: Conduct various functional tests involving cutting and welding to assess component’s accuracy, reliability, and efficacy. Identify potential defects to develop appropriate modifications and modify designs accordingly.

External Coordination: Establish and maintain relationships with manufactures and suppliers alike to ensure components can meet requirements within a given timeframe. Carefully communicate with the manufactures regularly to troubleshoot various production issues, thus ensuring the design can meet specifications and expense guidelines.

Data Management: Track and manage various project files and documentation, including computer aided designs

(CADs), assembly drawings, and bill of materials (BOM).

Reports & Documentation: Generate technical documents including, but not limited to BOM, drawings, simulations, and testing procedures. Present these documents to clients, supplier, and even government bodies alike to facilitate communication.

Staff Training & Development: Deliver demonstrations and hands-on training for both new hires and existing employees on PDM, GD&T usage and ASME standards, answering inquiries, and ensuring best practices. EARLIER NOTEWORTHY EXPERIENCE

Private Instructor (Math, Physics, Chemistry) Global Ivy Education Group Ltd. Vancouver, BC Jul. 2015 – Aug. 2016 FORMAL EDUCATION

Bachelor of Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics Option) University of British Columbia 2015 Key Projects Completed:

Human-powered Charging Station: Led a team of 5 members in designing and manufacturing an indoor human- powered charging station, and implemented functional prototypes on campus, which successfully met technical specifications and CSA standards while promoting sustainability practices.

Formula SAE Race Car: collaborated with a team of students to design and build a full-size race car annually; the team’s ranking moved from 80th to top 15 in 3 years.

Passive Artificial Ankle Joint: Developed a passive ankle joint to enable responses to different actions through parametric surface modelling. Created and gained approval for a patent entitled “2 Dofs Constrained anisotropic flexible biomimetic ankle joint.”
