Professional Summary
My most recent work experience started in October of 2018 at Doctor’s Specialty Care. My job included working with those addicted to opioids, creating treatment plans and offering medically assisted treatment. I was laid off 5/9/19 and I am currently looking for something else that will make me feel like I am contributing to the betterment of society and something I will love at the same time.
I worked as a FNP in August 2017 as a walk-in provider for West Virginia Wesleyan College and I also helped as an Assistant Professor of Nursing. Another company took over the health center at the college, which contributed to my search for alternative employment. I worked for Community Care before accepting employment from West Virginia Wesleyan College. I was nominated for professor of the year and my former students still keep in contact. I love the students and loved the opportunity to assist faculty with healthcare needs as well. Before a medical leave in 2015, I worked at Bridgeport and Elkins Express Care which are urgent care facilities as well as primary care clinics. My job duties were urgent care related. My patient load usually ranged from 30-45 per day. It was a fast paced and exciting environment with many opportunities for learning
I have acquired skills in patient assessment and gained a solid foundation in providing holistic care that focuses on all aspects of a person’s health: emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychosocial. I have experience in wound care, simple suturing, injections, IVS, chest ports, postmortem care, death and dying, patient advocacy, chronic healthcare and many other aspects of patient care.
I have former experience in CCU as an RN with many variations of job descriptions. Also, my past experiences have given me the confidence I need to care for patients and the ability to collaborate with other health care professionals. I am passionate about helping others and I realize that critical patient care requires a solid foundation in nursing skills, prioritization of care, and communication skills. These skills, coupled with my compassion, patience, and patient advocacy are just some of what I offer.
During my clinical experience for my MSN I had an extensive rotation at the VA hospital which involved practice in areas including Urology, Dermatology, Radiology, Orthopedics, General Surgery, and the Emergency Department. My roles included not only exceptional patient care but patient histories, physicals, assessment, diagnosis, treatments, and plans for a good patient outcome. Other areas of clinical experience included Pediatrics and Women's Health at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. These experiences opened the door for me to assist in surgical interventions and many other procedures.
Preferences
I love the excitement of healthcare and the opportunities to help patients and their families. I was created to be nothing other than a Family Nurse Practitioner and I am honored to have assisted West Virginia Wesleyan College in starting their very own FNP program. I was the very first FNP to ever graduate from WVWC after approaching the Dean to start the program. I am looking for an employer that will recognize my love and commitment for them and the healthcare team. I am a team player and work well with others, as well as honest and committed. I desire a competitive wage, low cost health insurance, a 401 K and loan forgiveness to be included with any employment agreement. I thank you for your time and consideration in advance. I have attached my contact information for your convenience.
