PROJECTS

Momentum

Tax: Is a compliance project which must be done twice a year as per SARS requirements. Our role as a product house is to report to SARS on all policies that must be tax compliant given the type of products invested in. The Products we have in Investo are Retirement annuity, Living annuity and linked investments.

FNB

Rainmaker: The legal Law On Call system that is used to provide telephonic support, legal case tracking and claims for the Law-on-Call insurance product.

FATCA: a compliance project which involved ensuring that all mandatory information is captured for new customers, as per FATCA requirements. This was done through integration with another FNB division called (Hogan CIS)

Billing: the objective was to establish how the different policies would be billed and which policies would go for Naedos tracking where billing failed due to insufficient funds. This also involved validating that the correct processes re followed in terms of notifying the clients about failed collections, as well as validating that the system is updated accordingly on our side.

Payment Holiday: pilot project that was established in order to grant payment breaks to clients. Testing involved validating that the right communication is sent at the correct time and that the holiday is granted to the correct clients given the minimum requirements stipulated for this payment holiday, validating that the normal process is applied correctly the month following the payment holiday.

Workflow: Workflow Viewer is a web-based application, which facilitates the flow of work from the different agents that have been setup for different roles and indexing of documents. The Workflow Viewer has been linked to Electronic Document Storage (EDS) system which is used to store documentation and transactions. Testing involved is functional testing, integration between the policy servicing system, workflow and EDS.

Funeral Insurance Plan project: which is a new funeral product that was launched in July 2015. This product was added to the FNB400 platform. Processes included are policy creation, policy serving, and maintenance as well as claims process. This project included integration to the workflow system and Postman Pat.

Hollard

I was involved in an output management project, which was initiated to correct the documentation that we send out to clients. This was customized per scheme, per product. A GUI was developed that allowed users to choose what they would like to see on the document and how they would like it to be displayed. This was new functionality; thus, system testing had to be done. I developed the test cases for the end-to-end testing of the GUI as well as the documentation.

Codeplex: An Integration project, where we needed to test the integration between the Hollard claims system and Codeplex, which is a service provider management system. System testing was required as codeplex was customized to ensemble Hollard requirements and the integration testing was done to ensure that these systems communicate effectively.

Momentum

At Momentum, we follow the sequential (V- model) system development life cycle. I have been involved

In testing web-based applications like a portal where clients can view their portfolios online, Quota, an online application that allows brokers to capture and draw quotes for clients, as well as New Business on the Web.

I have also been involved in testing processes and alterations on existing contracts, as well as

enhancements on current processes and product range, this is done on the AS400.

Other projects I have been involved in was compliance projects like FAIS and Regulation 28 which were initiated to validate that brokers adhered to FAIS and that our retirement annuity products were invested correctly i.e. spread out in the right portfolios. This was new functionality on the AS400 on processes that were affected.

Bulk switching is another project that I was involved in. This project was initiated because of the need to switch from one fund to another for reasons such as a fund being closed. This was a batch process where we tested to validate that bulk switching from one fund to another worked correctly, taking into consideration pending transactions, status of the policy, fees that needed to be levied or not, etc.

With the merger between Momentum and Metropolitan, there was a need to take on some of the Metropolitan product ranges onto Momentum PDS system. My involvement on this project is more on the functionality of the system.

Most of our testing is system functionality; however, we get involved in user acceptance testing as well as regression testing.
