I am Dr. Sudhir Kisan Baburdikar, currently working as Consultant Retina Surgeon at Ahalia eye Hospital, Ernakulam, Kerala.

I carry 14 years of experience in the field of ophthalmology with me. I did my MBBS and MS in Ophthalomolgy in Pune University at Pravara Medical College, Loni, Ahmegnagar in 1999 ( MBBS ) and MS in 2004. I was gold medalist and received the prestigious ranking to be first in MS ophthalmology exam in Pune university in June 2004. Although I am trained in cataract surgery ( Both SICS and Phaco ), my interest lies in retina only. I did my training in Retina in S. B. Sohan Singh eye hospital in Amristsar, Punjab in 2009. Since then i practice only retina, both medical and surgical. I have done more than 2500 surgical retina procedures of varing complexities like scleral buckling, vitrectomies, IOFB removals, Macular Hole surgeries, Nucleus drops etc. My special interest lies in Diabetic retinopathies and had succesfully managed all complex things in it. I have operated numerous tractional retinal detachments of all natures and presentations of Diabetic retinopathy. I have succesfully managed recurrent surgeries operated elsewhere also. All independently and interested to teach new learners also.

I have done more than 5000 laser procedure in the field of retina like pan retinal photocoagulation for diabetic retinopathy and barrage laser photocoagulation . I have given more that 3000 intravitreal injections of all sorts and all possible indications. I am interested in doing all investigations for my patients on my own and fundus fluroscein angiography is my area of interest. I have worked on almost all medical investigation equipments and vitrectomy consoles for surgery. I joined Vasan eye care Hopital way back in May 2009 in Madurai. Then moved to Chennai for 3 years. I was first retina surgeon to join group in South Tamil Nadu, so had opportunities to establish and run retina departments at several places and hospitals of the group. I carry an administrative experience in the same and curretly help in regulating retina work in many of the branches. I was in the same vasan group since 2009. Later on western part was recognised as Contacare, so i was in contacare. I had shown my proficiency and capability in my field of work, so never had chance to change work place. I worked in contacare till June 2018. After that i got an opportunity to work with Ahalia group of eye hospital . I joined them in June immediately as senior retina surgeon. Here also i take care of running the retina department of hospital. In addition, i take care of three regional branches of them. On family side, i have come from teachers background and both my parents were teacher. My wife is also teacher and teaches to medical students in MIMER Medical College, Pune India.
