Description: -

This project was an attempt to understand the production of 1000 TPA of ethylene glycol by hydration of ethylene oxide. It gives high yield, low production cost and high product quality. Designing of reactor and Page 2

condenser was done during project, material balance and energy balance was calculated.

Various method for process instrumentation and control system was done for handling of equipment’s. Safety measure provided for health risk issues.

Cost of equipment’s, raw material, products are calculated in the economic evolutions sections and plant layout for better functioning of the plant import/export of materials.

Annual output of ethylene glycol is 119.046 kg/hr, was found during my project work. Time operation of plant was 350 working days/years. INDUSTRIAL INTERNSHIP

Project Description: -

Worked in CDU (Crude distillation unit) and VDU (Vacuum distillation unit) which made me work on simulation and design work. Where crude oil is distilled into various products like Naphtha, kerosene and diesel. That then serve as feedstock for all other processing units at the refinery. I got a good opportunity to work on design of Vacuum distillation unit to process the atmospheric residue produced from Indian refinery. It is simulated on ASPEN HYSYS v8 program. The project includes material and energy balance designing the vacuum distillation unit, corrosion Page 3

protection of the vacuum distillation and improving the production of VDU, cost estimation with economic summary is also done, which has enhanced my hands on experience at industrial level. ACHIEVEMENT
