Position
Permanent Plant reactor operator
Duties
Production of chemicals such as calcium nitrate, magnesium nitrate and blending of products.
Plant operation (pre plant start up, start up and stop up plant procedures) using reaction vessels for production of the above mentioned chemicals using the standard operating procedure.
Adhering to all safety rules which involves handling of hazardous chemicals,wearing proper protective equipment, practising emergency protocol procedures and material safety data sheets
Electrical and mechanical isolation for clearance purposes and safe working conditions
Fault finding of equipment and reporting to the maintenance team prior to a job card is issued and clearance
Monitoring Parameters for good plant operations, which include Temperatures, steam levels, Scrubber functionality and recording of results.
Quality assurance (Lab analysis) of the product produced to ensure it falls within the specified standard set, examples included pH, specific gravity, Turbidity, Colour, Magnesium/calcium content(v/v%)
Loading of bulk trucks to customers using centrifugal pump, offloading of bulk trucks using centrifugal pumps, offloading and loading of raw materials and finished products using the forklift respectively
Doing risk assessments before and after loading of products
Ensuring that every load that is loaded or offloaded is accompanied by the certificate of analysis (COA), receipt of purchase, weighing bridge certificate and acceptance of receiving product signed by the driver and operator/supervisor
Filtration of the products using the filter press for clearance and sludge remove from the product
Handling of waste material and properly confining them in a waste storage
Stock controlling for receive raw material, in process products, waste and finished products with comparison with the physical stock and Syspro system stock.
Monitoring of the program logic control (PLC) for tank levels, scrubber emissions, process parameters and filter press equipment
General housekeeping of the plant to ensure that all places are clean and all equipment’s are free from chemicals or products
