RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellow and Research Assistant 2014 - 2019 University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI

Departments of Chemical Engineering/Electrical, Computer, & Biomedical Engineering Major Professors: Dr. Stephen M. Kennedy and Dr. Walter G. Besio Projects:

• Development and evaluation of conductive hydrogel electrodes. Developed conductive hydrogels to create wet, ready-to-use electrodes for electroencephalography (EEG) and wearable electronics applications.

• Cytotoxicity and drug release of conductive cryogels. Evaluated cytotoxicity and drug release of poly(acrylic acid)-PEDOT injectable cryogels. Viability of different cell lines, including fibroblast (3T3- L1), neurons (HCN-2) and glial cells (QNR-D), were investigated using different assays.

• Fabrication of injectable conductive hydrogels. Fabricated and characterized properties

(mechanical and electrical properties before and after sterilization) of conductive hydrogels based on poly(acrylic acid) and PEDOT to develop injectable conductive cryogels for neural interventions. Responsibilities:

• Management and training of new personnel for mechanical testing equipment (Instron and Biss), impedance spectroscopy, electroencephalography (EEG) testing

• Preparation of SOPs for different types of conductive hydrogels, mechanical test instruments, electrical testing, impedance spectroscopy, EEG testing, and cell culture

• Collection and analysis of data on projects related to conductive hydrogels

• Writing and preparation of peer-review manuscripts related to research Undergraduate Research Assistant 2011

Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran

• Project: "Fabrication of iron oxide nanoparticles for MRI drug applications."

• Advisor: Dr. Sirius Javadpoor

• Fabrication of iron oxide nanoparticles for drug delivery applications (MRI drug) in collaboration with Pharmacy School of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences PEER-REVIEWED PUBLICATIONS
