Key Responsibilities.

West End Training was founded by me nearly 25 years ago, and we grew through franchising. Following on from my own banking background I always look for a business advantage whenever we consult and plan training and consultancy for clients being very aware of the culturally diverse nature of our clients. I have worked with Saudi Arabian Chevron, (in Kuwait), writing and presenting a number of programmes over the last few years. We worked with them, providing programmes and had to work within a brief where our plans of what we were going to do had to coordinate with 'the big picture'. West End Training only carries out training exclusively for client organisations. For this reason, we are often involved in a quasi-consultancy role to assist the client in agreeing what it is they actually need. This can involve looking at Job Descriptions and full LMS records.

Many years ago, we were successful in becoming an approved training provider for the National Oil Company of Kuwait (KPC). Within the group there are 10 separate ‘K companies’. I had to present our company and our plans to the Board of Directors. Many programmes have been carried out. I am a very experienced learning and organisational development specialist which has included coaching at all levels including senior leaders. All the training courses and programmes offered by West End Training have been written by me.

A project listed on my LinkedIn profile, describes implementing an Integrated Management System at SULB, a steel manufacturing plant in Bahrain. This involved them applying for ISO 9000 Quality Certification, Health and Safety Certification and Environmental Certification. During the many months that the project took to complete, key personnel from the steel plant were chosen, who were then trained on what the project entailed and then that information had to be rolled-out. TNAs were drawn up from the first ‘kick-off’ meeting right through to training the staff to be internal auditors. This involved a detailed analysis of looking at job descriptions from HR’s ‘employee family tree’. Their training was designed around their individual needs and in-line with the requirements of the International Standards. We helped them to develop documents that would be used in the training and ongoing as ‘real tools’ for compliance purposes. The above SULB project highlighted Supply Chain Management issues, not just the TNA / SAT process. Curriculum Vitae of Clive Anthony Sherer

One of our services is providing Outplacement for people who have been made redundant to help them find their next role. One of our biggest contracts for Outplacement was with Arjo Wiggins the paper manufacturer. It was a FTSE 100 company at the time. Over 400 people were made redundant and a site was closed. Our contract took 3 months of our team working on-site. I have also undertaken specific franchise consultancy roles, with one for a ship chandelling company in the Middle East. Having taken that company to approval stage with the International Franchise Organisation I was then asked to become its temporary General Manager to sort out a catalogue of business issues that needed to be addressed.

Person Specification.

My hands-on experience with learning and development plus coaching is considerable and I enjoy it very much. My ‘Fellowship’ with the Chartered Institute of Bankers and my Banking Diploma are degree equivalents.

I have written HR policies, manuals and Health and Safety manuals. My communication skills, both written and verbal, are to a high standard, working very well with all types of people and stakeholders. I am a persuader and ‘a diplomat’. Punctuality is very important, and I plan very well to make sure that ‘things are right’. Personal integrity and personal beliefs that I hold dear are ‘to give something back’. My membership as a dedicated Rotarian for over 20 years and my support for Blind Veterans demonstrate this. My travels to many continents including America, Asia (Sri Lanka and India) including the Middle East

(Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE) plus Africa (Ethiopia and Zambia) have given me a ‘big picture view’ of the big bad world.

Presentation to the British Business Group Abu Dhabi.
