HACK REACTOR
● Graduated from 12-week, 900+ hour immersive course where I was responsible for building and deploying front components or backends cloud microservices - on AGILE teams and under strict deadlines - to meet specs regarding test-coverage, complexity, and performance
● Conducted pair-programming with other students where we engaged in regular 2-day sprints involved with debugging, writing tests, and adding features to a number of code-bases, each with new and different frameworks, APIs, and database technologies
PROJECTS:
“StreamComments” Migrated legacy back-end to handle production level usage for a comments section Cassandra, Postgres, Express, Node, Redis, Docker, NginX, EC2 t2.micro, EC2 t2.larget, Cassandra Loader, Gradle, Artillery.io, Loader.io, New Relic, AGILE, microservices
● Optimized Cassandra and Postgres for a 70 million row data set, locally improving read latency from ~5,000 ms to 12.06 ms in Cassandra, and from ~48,000 ms to 9.34 ms in Postgres
● Benchmarked the two databases across a full range of API calls, weighted towards use case
● Load tested microservice locally and implemented a caching layer to improve throughput from 91 to 605 requests per second
● Deployed servers with cache layers and horizontally scaled system behind a load balancer to achieve 1,750 requests per second with a latency of 79 ms and an error rate of 0.0%
“Appointments” Front-end component for making reservations as part of a business information app React, Babel, Webpack, NPM, GIT, Trello, Jest, Enzyme, CircleCI, ES6, Docker, EC2 (AWS), MySQL, Node, Express, Faker.js, Styled-Components, AGILE, microservices
● Mocked up backend API with server and database populated with realistic placeholder data for easy integration to scaled backend
● Archived 90% of test coverage on +700 lines of code across 9 files using unit tests, snapshots, and integration tests which were incorporated into our CI pipeline
● Containerized and deployed a minified production bundle with team integration on AWS
“HouseCall” 2-day FS prototype for a scheduling service for traveling independent contractors React, Babel, Webpack, NPM, GIT, ES6, MySQL, Node, Express, Moment.js, React-Big-Calendar, React-Dates
● Integrated database, user input, and API calls to smoothly integrate time estimates into scheduling UI using multiple libraries
● When given open-ended opportunity to prototype any API call, identified and successfully addressed a gap in available services for the market of mobile independent contractors EDUCATION:
