Client: Disi Water Conveyance Company. DIWACO.

Owner: Jordanian Government.

Project Fund: Project was funded by foreign loans based on a Build-Operate-Transfer BOT concession contract between the Jordanian government acting loans to Disi Water Conveyance Company. DIWACO. Project Funders/ Agencies: U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation, French bank PROPARCO,

(French water company) French Development Agency AFD, Suez Environment, European Investment Bank EIB and Arab Banking Corporation (1,100,000,000 US $, about 780.5 M JDs). In-charge for all Environmental assessment studies, include preparing Environmental Master maps and plan based on Project's framework and match between latest Science Research Centers with applicable Environmental Legislation each Jordanian, Regional and International Conventions based on in order to coordinate with client& stakeholders and prepare required Technical Translation works into Arabic for all projects outputs. Objective:

Following up on all field works to ensure compliance with all ESH requirements, conditions and standards along more than 200 of 325 Km, total pipeline length from Disi aquifer (over 55 wells).

Determine the offending and edit the violations may lead to injury or loss of life.

Installation of protective barriers, warning, sustained, warning signs and sustained.

Prompt reporting of any major violation may lead to injury or loss of life and / or property.

Applying Emergency Plan in any case of any emergency necessary circumstances.

Follow-up hazardous waste collection, transportation and disposing based on environmental regulations.

EcoPeace is an international Environmental Regional Organization NGO specialized in Environmental

(mainly preparing Environmental Impact Assessment EIA reports), Water and Sustainable Development projects. Jordan Society for Sustainable Development JSSD has a local Joint Venture agreement with Friends of the Earth Middle East FoEME- Amman office to manage and control many projects that related with Environment, Water and Sustainable Development at all entire Jordan Valley and Dead Sea regions. Projects: (Northern Jordan Valley and Dead Sea region): 1. Aqaba Bird Observatory: (4 years from start/ joint up to closer). It’s established in August 2004, was launched in August 2008 as first observatory for birds especially it considering a junction area between three continents; Asia, Africa and Europe, it’s a meeting point for 390 species of migratory birds through its pathways millions cross over its area twice a year. Owner: Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority ASEZA and Aqaba Water Company AWC. Funder: Collaboration with Jordanian NGO- RSCN with many co-funders: Ford grants, UNEP, IUCN

2. Good Water Neighbors Program: (Ongoing, started/ joint at August 2004, left at August 2009). It’s started in 2001 until now to raise awareness of the shared water problems between all Jordan River neighbors’ sides/ banks and highlighting significance of entire Water Shade Area between all Jordan River neighbors’, also prepare Feasibility Study to increase its discharge within next 25 years. Owner: Jordan Ministry of Water and Irrigation MWI, Jordan Valley Authority JAV. Funder: Collaboration with many cofounders: UNDP, USIAD and internal funding by ECOPEACE. Approximately expenses per year (175,000 US $, about 125,000 JDs). 3. Jordan River Rehabilitation- Upstream: (2 years from start/ joint up to closer). It’s started in March 2006 until August 2008 to rehabilitation 96% of Jordan River water against of large quantities of untreated sewage that affect Jordan River neighbors’ sides/ banks to avoid threatens and pollute Jordan River Valley. Starting from its upstream waters in order to continue using its water for domestic, agricultural/ rural uses, and industrial uses. This project consider the best solution to treat its water once again and save Jordan River Valley ecosystem. Owner: Jordan Ministry of Water and Irrigation MWI, Jordan Valley Authority JAV. Funder: USIAD. (275,000 US $, about 190,000 JDs).

4. Protecting Ground Water in lower Jordan Valley region: (1 year from start/ joint up to closer). It’s small scale project started in October 2005- May 2006 to provide Ministry of Environment MOE with best recommendations through field observations, surveys and tests to prepare Socio-Environmental Impact Assessments SEIA Studies to protect the Ground Water Aquifers against pollutants and contamination that resulted from local people and agricultural activities. Owner: Jordan Ministry of Environment MOE. Funder: GTZ. (60,000 US $, about 40,000 JDs). 5. Green Economy Initiatives: (1 year from started/ joint up to closer).
