Operations Manager

●Aligning manpower to meet the needs of the business as dictated by the customer’s needs in shipping and receiving.

●Ensure that all employees (150+) know, understand, and are reaching all goals set forth by the company.

●Coach and train each employee to reach the company standards and reach their highest potential.

●Along with coaching/training, using progressive discipline in order to teach while holding employees accountable for not meeting expectations, or complying with company policy.

●Familiarizing myself with company’s weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals and implementing processes to meet or exceed these goals. Coaching, training, and holding employees accountable is the first step in goal obtainment.

●Utilizing the Lean Principles of Management, a main responsibility is to use root cause analysis and problem solving to continuously improve the operation in every aspect of the day-to-day operation. Having respect for employees while allowing them to help solve the problems and allowing them to act as a “subject matter expert” when solving job related problems.

●As part of a five- person team working with the Directors of the company, I gained a lot of experience with project management, development of policy and procedures, and the implementation of these policies and procedures. We not only developed the policy and procedures but also created the training materials the company would use to train the rest of the company.

●Conflict Resolution typically went with Customer Service. Resolving issues that the external customer had with service and resolving issues with internal customers(employees) was something that became a daily task. Active listening was used to understand the problem, agree on a solution that worked for all parties, and ultimately ended the issue with a commitment from each party to move forward in a productive way.

●Time management was a weakness that quickly became a strength. Leading such a large team of employees and Supervisors every minute of my day was needed to complete tasks that were planned and unplanned. Prioritizing tasks, allowing time to complete them, and being able to make time when needed became an invaluable tool.

●Safety became my most important focus in this position. Making sure that everyone returns home safely is paramount. A slip on ice in the parking lot was just as important and severe as an accident on the highway. My job as the manager is teach my employees to work to the best of their abilities, provide them the tools to do so, while ensuring that they are completing tasks in the safest way possible.

Transportation Industry November 2004 to May 2013

●Facilitate policy and plans set forth by the Operations Manager and Company as a whole.

●Coaching and training of employees. As a supervisor it is my responsibility to monitor employees and look for opportunities to coach and train. As errors are made, employees should be made aware of these issues and taught the proper way to complete the task as set forth by the company.

●Along with coaching/training, using progressive discipline in order to teach while holding employees accountable for not meeting expectations, or complying with company policy.

●In this role I made it a point to learn and observe not only my employees but my leaders. Seeking to understand the jobs below mine and above mine made me promotable and prepared me for the next level of management.
