Work Summary

Customer Controls Trainer instructing customers on the General Electric Control systems for Heavy Duty Gas Turbines: Speedtronic Mark VI and Mark VIe Control (MKx). Along with providing instruction on the introduction of Dry Low NOx combustion emissions (DL Nitrogen Oxygen), Optimum Flexibility (Op-Flex) Model Base Controls (MBC), Enhanced Transient Stability (ETS), and AutoTune. Instruction on Advanced Mark VI, Mark VIe Operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Implemented cross training for other GE instructors.

The prior past six and a half years 2001 -2008, have been a Technical Adviser/Field Engineer for General Electric commissioning Heavy Duty Gas Turbines for Power Generation/Oil production. Prior to Controls commissioning, worked as a GE Mechanical Field Engineer commissioning, installing, and performing maintenance on heavy duty Gas Turbines for Power Generation.

Lectured multi customer classes in Mark VI and Mark VIe controls at locations: Loveland and Longmont, Colorado; Salem, Virginia; Houston, Texas.

Lectured classes using physical MKVI (e) controllers, using: Classroom in a Box(CIAB’s) laptops, using virtual Gas Turbine simulators, trained 2 to 24 customers for one / two week Mark VI and Mark VIe classes at customer sites.

Taught one week, 12 customers, Mark VI Advanced class in China, using CIAB.

Headed and commissioned the Mark VIe class at the Loveland, Colorado location, standardized manuals.

Planned and developed the GE Dry Low NOx combustion emissions(DL Nitrogen Oxygen)DLN customer training class, provided training on DLN1, 1+, DLN 2.0, DLN 2.6, and DLN 2.6+ systems at multiple customer sites, using CIAB.

Instructed customers in OpFlex Enhanced Transient Stability (ETS) for operations.

Continuation of wiring loop checks of instrumentation for the Gas Turbine Mark VI Controller, Gas Compressor, Fire Protection, Fuel Gas System, and Bently Nevada vibration monitoring system.

Verified the wiring loop to the compressor controllers (CCC) to instruments.

Audited corrections of site drawings (red-lined).

2-9FA Combined Cycle installation

Collected data and installed new software for Gas Turbine (GT) Mark VI controller load rejection tests, and for new GT shut down sequence.

Resolved punch-list items, including updating Cimplicity graphics screens, Instrument device recalibrations, verifying functionality of instruments, assisted with communication network issues, replacing old terminal boards with new.

Assisted GT Tuner in DLN 2.0 combustion emissions, Integrated GT Tuning for Performance Testing.

Lead Mark VI Controls TA

Escondido, CA

2 7FA Combined Cycle Installation. Powered up and ground checked both Gas Turbine (GT) Mark VI controllers.

Established communication network for both GT Human Machine Interface (HMI’s), and the plant control room HMI’s.

Wire loop checked and function tested instrumentation.

Function tested and calibrated gas control valves, Inlet Guide Vanes (IGV’s), and the Hydrogen gas control panels for generators.

Tested communication of Cimplicity graphic signals from GT HMI’s to customer Distributed Control Systems (DCS).

Incorporated Network Time Protocol (NTP) for time synchronization of plant controls systems.

Verified wire loops and installed configuration, in the MKVI, for Combustion Dynamics Monitor System.

Assisted On-Site Monitor (OSM) group in setting up the UOSM. Initiated corrections of site drawings (red-lined).

Occidental Vinyls

Lead Mark VI Controls TA

Deer Park, TX

7 E Gas Turbine Combined Cycle Mark IV to Mark VI controls retrofit.

Powered up and ground checked the MKVI controller.

Re-verified existing instrumentation and verified wiring loops.

Commissioned the new DLN1 emissions fuel gas skid.

Established communication network from local Human Machine Interface (HMI’s) to the Control room HMI.

Function tested instrumentation and the Hydrogen gas Control Panel for generator, and took data for DLN1 Tuning.
