Interim CFO – Inspira Financial, Inc. 2018 Canadian public company in the commercial loan and medical billing lines of business in the process of closing its operations.

Collected $1.8M of fully written off loans of a $6.2M Loan portfolio.

Reduced the monthly financial closing cycle from a last minute close for public filing to six days monthly close.

Took the company through the annual audit.

CFO - Regulus Alliance 2017 Hospitality and commercial real estate company in the accumulation of real estate phase of its growth cycle.

Contract negotiations with the Broward county commissioners for a $1M+ build-out of beachfront property.

Commercial real estate negotiations for the acquisition of $1.2M lot to expand the footprint of existing commercial properties owned thereby increasing the total value exponentially of the adjoining properties.

Closed commercial real estate and operating / capital loans and restructured debt to fund operations and purchases and development of existing properties.

CFO / Controller – Avalanche Group - 2005 to 2016. Avalanche is an internet e-commerce and on-line advertiser in the social networking space (B2C/B2B) comprising of multiple legal entities in the US and Canada and transacting internationally.

Responsible for day to day accounting, consolidations, and financial reporting for 13 international legal entities.

Established and maintained merchant accounts in a high risk environment.

Worked with venture capitalists to raise capital and investment bankers to sell the company.

Successfully transitioned the company to consolidated and fully audited GAAP financial statements from tax based accounting for 13 domestic and international legal entities.

Expedited the closing process by developing a MS Access program that facilitated the intercompany invoices, deferred revenues, and the audits of over 190 merchant accounts for accuracy.

Guided the Canadian operations through both Federal and Provincial tax audits realizing a cash infusion of $250,000 from held GST refunds and identifying $310,000 in tax loss carry-forwards to shield future income.

Secured working capital financing to meet the needs of the company and maintained excellent credit ratings with DNB.

Implemented effective tax planning strategies that materially reduced the tax burdens of the related companies and principals in both the Canada and the US.

Flexible financial / operational budgeting modeling in MS Excel to identify the key operational metrics for operations to focus on to make a positive impact on the long term profitability to the company. Allowed the company to strategically focus and reduced to inefficiencies inherent in its online marketing programs.

CFO - Premier Capital Investors - 2004 a capital investment firm specializing in asset based purchases of distressed companies. Investments included a construction / manufacturing firm (Miami, FL) and an electronic distribution firm to the aerospace and defense industries (Oakland, CA).

Implemented a world-wide chart of accounts to facilitate consolidations.

Controller - MCSi, Inc. - 2002 to 2003. MCSi was a publicly traded audio-visual (AV) company. Engineers, installs, services, and sold AV (audio-visual) equipment primarily to government, school, e-commerce, and corporate clients. Corporate sales were $500M with Florida sales of $38M. Within two months of taking the position my duties expanded from a controllership role to also include IT, HR, inventories, and purchasing.

Implemented an inventory cycle-count program and strict internal controls over inventories reducing shrinkage from over $2M to under $100K total annual variance between the perpetual and physical inventories.

The Florida Region was ranked 11th out of 13th regions in revenues. During my tenure as the controller we ranked third in positive cash flows accomplished by pro-actively managing the working capital accounts.

Reduced accounts receivable (over 30) by 65 percent.

Managed 35 staff (accounting, inventories and purchasing).

Accounting and Financial Reporting Mgr. - ANDRX Pharmaceuticals - 2001 to 2002. Andrx Pharmaceuticals was an aggressive and rapidly growing public traded generic drug manufacturer and distributor heavily involved in research and development. The Pharma division was a cost center ($250M) consisting of the primary manufacturing, legal, R&D and pilot labs.

I was hired as a senior cost accountant, after two months in the position I was promoted to accounting manager.

Designed and implemented an automated inventory reconciliation program reducing the time to reconcile inventories within the inventory module from five days to two hours.

Automated the journal entry postings to the GL reducing the time to close by 15 percent.

Prepared the budget and quarterly projections and flash reports as required by senior management for four legal entities.

In charge of the monthly and annual closing process and the budget to actual reviews with the Vice Presidents and Directors of the division.

8 staff as direct reports.

Sr. Cost Accountant - Dole Fresh Flowers - 2000 to 2001 Dole Fresh Flowers: a newly acquired division of Dole Foods and was the largest fresh flower grower in the world ($245M in sales) consisting of over 60 legal entities internationally. The company purchased Sunburst Farms and Flor America employing 15,000 staff internationally / 600 in Miami. The company faced both an inability to determine the cost of its products and faced an overwhelming culture clash between its acquired company’s staff and the management of Dole Corporation. Reinstalled JD Edwards and put in place a standard cost accounting system. The company had its most profitable season during my tenure by concentrating on developing sales prices based on costs.

Business Analyst / Sr. Cost Accountant -The Ink Company; 1995 to 2000. The Ink Company was the fourth largest domestic producer of printing inks ($145M in sales) with 15 factories domestically with toll manufacturing occurring in China. Purchasing, MRP, Fleet operations, job and process costing, Mergers and acquisitions due diligence and valuations, merged the supply chain with the distribution channels. After the sale of the company I worked briefly with the principle in the development of an ecommerce store.
