Summary

Responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, installing, and supporting a University's computer systems. Designs, monitoring and installs LANs, WANs, Wireless LAN, Internet and intranet systems and network segments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.

Install and maintain network hardware and software.

Log monitoring using SOPHOS UTM 9 Firewall.

Log monitoring using Fortinet Firewall

Continuous monitoring of real time logs generated by IT systems and other sources of information.

1.Assist Head of data Center Operations (HoDCO) to ensure smooth running of all infrastructure housed in data center(s) in an efficient and cost effective manner

2.Assist HoDCO to ensure availability and review Standard Operating Procedures, Administration Manuals and processes

3.Assist HoDCO to ensure availability of connectivity and network diagrams of infrastructure housed in Data Center(s)

4.Assist HoDCO to ensure all the processes are in line with and conform to documented Information Security Policy

Provision of ubiquitous Wi-Fi across campus, using Ruckus Wireless controller and Ruckus wireless access points (zf7372). Wi-Fi provides an exciting experience for students, faculty, staff and visitors. It provided instant access to Internet, Email and other IT services across the Campus. Used as a backup for computer Labs in place of LAN unavailability.

2.Deployment of Campus LAN. (Feb’ 2015 to Dec’ 2015)

Deployment of LAN comprises of 500 nodes.

Summary:

Successfully deployed Campus wide LAN comprising of 500 nodes. It is based on Fiber Optic backbone and Cat6 cabling. Used Cisco Layer3 Managed switches for VLANs. Network services were provided to five departments, five Computer Labs, Library and six administrative departments.

3.HEC’s Smart University Wi-Fi Project (May’ 2015 to Aug’ 2016)

Active Directory Authentication setup using PEAP & CHAP method.

DHCP setup for Wi-Fi users.

RADIUS server Deployment.

Summary:

Higher Education Commission’s, Smart University Wi-Fi project across the Pakistan, using Cisco Wireless Controller (WLC) and Cisco PoE based wireless access points (AIR-CAP2702I-C-K9) and one Outdoor AP (AIR-AP1572EAC-C-K9) and Cisco Prime Infrastructure for centralization of WLCs. Through this project, all the universities using PERN will be interconnected via eduroam (education roaming) setup and can be monitored vigilantly to meet cybercrime laws.
