National Institute of Standards and Technology

Human Resources Department

To whom it may concern:

I am writing to present my education, experience, and skills in application for the Data Scientist position in National Institute of Standards and TechnologyBoulder, CO recently published on LinkedIn.

With several years of experience in big data statistical analysis, software development, computer simulations and instrumentation, I think my profile is exactly what you are looking for and I am convinced that I meet the necessary qualifications outlined for this position.

In addition to my training and experience as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Physics, I have a PhD in Physics focused in Experimental Elementary Particles (instrumentation, simulation and data analysis) obtained from the University of Guanajuato where I achieved academic excellence. I also have an intermediate-high level of the English language.

Not only do I meet the desired requirements, but the most valuable thing about me is the commitment that I put into what I do. In other words, I pay attention to even the smallest details and consistently provide quality work. I have been part of successful teams as research collaborator for several years now on international experiments such as: MINERvA, 35Ton, ProtoDUNE-SinglePhase and DUNE. These projects are located in the United States (Fermilab) and Europe (CERN). For the last 6 years I have primarily been living in United States, but I worked in Switzerland at CERN for approximately two months, and I also presented at international conferences.

Throughout my studies and current employment, I have worked with different programming languages, and I have led several analyses in the field of physics. Additionally I was commissioned for the design, development, installation and operation of various technological components used in the experiments in which I have collaborated. Taken together, these experiences are very useful to meet the requirements of this position.

I want to have the opportunity to talk with you for an in person interview to explain my knowledge, experience, and desire to be part of your working group. Thank you for considering my application. Please feel free to contact me for any additional information you require. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely,

Dr. Edgar Valencia-Rodriguez

I’m interested in the way things work. Mathematics and Physics have been my favorite subjects throughout my educational career, particularly Experimental Physics primarily due to the description and modeling of nature. I enjoy the challenges using analytic, statistical and numerical methods to solving everyday problems.
